I never watched the movie. I'm not a fan of the actress that played Elizabeth, don't ask me why cause I don't really have a solid reason. Derp.
I loved the series though. Colin Firth as Mr Darcy~
SOMEONE MAKE A GAME WHERE WITH A MR DARCY. Or Mr Tilney, he's a bit nicer. And I liked the actor who plays him in the Northanger Abbey movie.
Okay I'm going to stop bothering this topic now sorry for babbling so much! GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR GAME, ANIMEFANCAT!

I like the PBS rendition with Colin Firth playing Darcy. I think the motions were all there, but sometimes you don't realize that something is significant until you read the book. Another thing you don't realize is how long Mr. Collins proposal is until you read it .
A character like Elizabeth's older sister Jane would also be a good otome game MC. Elizabeth and Jane are very different, but they are both strong characters with their own weaknesses. Catherine from Northanger Abbey is also a prime example by Jane Austen.

GAME MECHANIC QUESTIONS:
BOYS QUESTIONS:
PROTAGONIST QUESTIONS:
STORY QUESTIONS:
Finally, what are some otome games you've loved, and what are some you've hated?
My absolute favorite game is Starry☆Sky~in Spring. I just LOVE how atmospheric and emotional it is. And the relationships are so adorable ❤ I’m also a huge advocate of The Royal Trap. It’s easily the best written, and most feminist-friendly otome game I’ve ever encountered.
I don’t know if I’ve HATED any games…but I definitely have a lot of anger towards My Candy Love. I mean, I still play it, but there are some REALLY STUPID, UNAVOIDABLE events in that game. Like the heroine deciding it is a good idea to hide in a locker in the Boy’s Locker Room. What the hell! No one in real life is stupid enough to think that’s an acceptable thing to do! The point/episode system is also frustrating, especially since it’s so easy to piss the boys off (this is the only game I’ve ever failed so hard at).
- Spoiler:
- 1) Do you enjoy mini-games as part of your otome experience? If no, what do you feel mini-games hinder during your play? If yes, what sorts of mini-games do you like to play, and at which point in your play (outside of the narrative like MCL/during events/etc.) do you feel they best add to the experience?
Mini-games can be a fun side thing, like for bonus items (ex. the 2011 My Candy Love Christmas Episode), but are annoying if failing them somehow interrupts the progress of the story. I do not want an otome game where I have to pass a series of mini games to win the man I’m pursuing.
2) Is a voice-acting cast important to your otome experience? If no, do you see it as a bonus or an annoyance? If yes, what does the voice-acting add for you?
I love voice-acting, and I believe it contributes greatly to the atmosphere of the game, HOWEVER it is not required. It is possible to make excellent dating sims that don’t have any voices (ex. The Royal Trap). Also, I would rather have no voice acting than BAD voice acting. A terrible voice actor can really ruin a character.
3) What sort of options do you like to have during and after gameplay? Dialog-skip buttons? Auto-dialog buttons? Buttons that allow you to read previous text? Etc.?
Dialogue-skip buttons are important for players who will replay the game to complete different routes. Something that allows you to read previous text would also be nice, as sometimes you may accidentally click through something, and then want to go back and read it again.
BOYS QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) Which boy personalities do you find you're most interested in when you play an otome game, and why? (ex: The bad boy, the gentleman, the ladies' man, etc.)
I. LOVE. CHILDHOOD FRIENDS. Seriously. They are sweet, loyal, and know you more intimately than anyone else. The childhood friend is my favorite trope. Other types that interest me are the gentleman, the ladies’ man, the kuundere, the tsundere, and the shota *shot*
2) Which boy personalities could you live without in an otome game, and why?
I’m not a huge fan of being in a romantic relationship with a yandere, but I like them as their own characters, so I wouldn’t remove them from the game. I guess any guy who is overly jealous and/or abusive needs to go.
3) What sort of appearances appeal to you most? (ex: Blond hair, big eyes, evil grin, etc.)
Generally I like guys who are “pretty”. Masculinity is a turn-off for me, so I tend to dismiss characters who are overly big and buff. I like my guys to be slightly effeminate, as it makes them both beautiful to look at, and usually gives them a more sensitive personality. Otherwise I’m not too picky about appearances.
4) How do you decide which boy to go after? Is it the way he looks? His first lines of dialog? His importance to the storyline?
Umm, well, I guess I just start playing the game, and, after I’ve met the guys, I just sort of pursue the guy that interests me the most. Sometimes it’s the way he looks, sometimes it’s how he behaves, and sometimes it’s based on his place in the story *shrugs*
5) What would make you stop chasing after your favorite guy?
I’ve never stopped a route that I’ve already started. If I had to pick something, though, it would be what I said above, about jealousy and abuse. Those things are NOT acceptable.
PROTAGONIST QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) What sort of personalities/qualities do you like best in a protagonist? Should she be smart, or a bit of a screw-up? Polite, or blunt? Or would you be willing to follow any protagonist, so long as she weren't too despicable?
I would prefer my protagonist be intelligent, as she is my representative in the game, and I don’t consider myself an idiot. I also prefer that she not be too gullible, or too trusting, or too eager to throw herself at a man. She has to seem like a decent human being.
2) What sort of character development would you most like to play through with the protagonist? Shy to outgoing? Pessimistic to optimistic? Naive to well-informed?
I guess I’m a fan of starting with a pessimist, and having them slowly shift into optimism, as I myself am a huge pessimist. I like to think that even people who are super cynical can find love, and have their world brightened by it. On the flip side, I can’t stand protagonists who are super naïve. Naivety is cute in small doses, but way too often it just makes the heroine seem slow in the head.
3) Do you prefer when the protagonist's appearance matches your ideal standards of beauty (hourglass figure/flowing hair/etc.) or when she's more average?
I prefer that the heroine’s appearance is on the plain side, so she’s more relatable. A good majority of the target audience are nerdy shut-ins, so we should have a heroine we can relate to, not one who is “perfect”.
4) What traits/mannerisms would completely turn you off from the protagonist?
It’s actually more the lack of traits/mannerisms that is a turn off. I don’t want a cardboard box for a heroine. She has to have a personality. It’s sad how many otome heroines don’t have personalities… (Amnesia, Uta no Prince-Sama, Starry☆Sky, etc.)
STORY QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) What goals do you strive to achieve in an otome game? A kiss? Implied "intimacy?" Marriage?
I think, for a full-length otome game, there at least needs to be a kiss. Truthfully, though, I’m happy with anything. It doesn’t need to end in marriage or sex for me to be satisfied.
2) Do you prefer when the protagonist and the boy of your choice clash or share plenty of chemistry? Should he be hard to get, or would you rather indulge in the romance from the get-go?
That’s something that changes on a case by case basis. If I was going to generalize it, though, I guess I would prefer a relationship that doesn’t contain a lot of drama/anger/whatever. Since “childhood friends” is my favorite trope, it would sort of make sense that I prefer for the two characters to share a lot of chemistry.
3) Do you enjoy harem endings, or do you prefer to keep it monogamous?
I would usually say monogamous, but, after playing The Royal Trap, I think I’m actually fine with anything, as long as it makes sense within the narrative of the game, and doesn’t feel demeaning to any of the characters.

3animefancat3 wrote:I hope I'm doing this right >.>;;Ello there, I'm in need of your all's opinions on some otome game elements. The following are a list of questions I'd love to have answered. Feel free to submit however many responses you'd like in whatever fashion suits you. Any additional information would also be greatly appreciated, so don't hesitate to ramble!
GAME MECHANIC QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) Do you enjoy mini-games as part of your otome experience? If no, what do you feel mini-games hinder during your play? If yes, what sorts of mini-games do you like to play, and at which point in your play (outside of the narrative like MCL/during events/etc.) do you feel they best add to the experience?
It doesn't have to be there, honestly. Considering I'm playing My Sweet Bodyguard, where there are events like Field day, they do add a cute experience and I enjoy them. However, I feel like it slows down my actual game-play time dramatically, as when I'm trying to play the main story I suddenly don't have enough points for it. XD
2) Is a voice-acting cast important to your otome experience? If no, do you see it as a bonus or an annoyance? If yes, what does the voice-acting add for you?
No, it's definitely a bonus though, feeling their actual emotions through voices does make the experience potent.
3) What sort of options do you like to have during and after gameplay? Dialog-skip buttons? Auto-dialog buttons? Buttons that allow you to read previous text? Etc.?
Dialog skip, reading previous text is a good thing.
BOYS QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) Which boy personalities do you find you're most interested in when you play an otome game, and why? (ex: The bad boy, the gentleman, the ladies' man, etc.)
I'm very interested in the gentlemen, or the nice guy. However, it also depends on how the stories play out, and if the character has some kind of twist to their story I do tend to go for that as well.
2) Which boy personalities could you live without in an otome game, and why?
Maybe the total douche-bag abusive type. I'm not into a guy who won't exactly listen to his girl either.genji from in your arms tonight urrgghhh
3) What sort of appearances appeal to you most? (ex: Blond hair, big eyes, evil grin, etc.)
Does sweet smile count? XD I don't mind the megane either.
4) How do you decide which boy to go after? Is it the way he looks? His first lines of dialog? His importance to the storyline?
His importance, appearance, and the way he carries himself in the prologue definitely. So all of those yes. I don't usually go by my first impulse though, it's kind of a thing with me.
5) What would make you stop chasing after your favorite guy?
If he turned out to be a total douchebag.
PROTAGONIST QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) What sort of personalities/qualities do you like best in a protagonist? Should she be smart, or a bit of a screw-up? Polite, or blunt? Or would you be willing to follow any protagonist, so long as she weren't too despicable?
I don't mind the polite, smart, and the sassy one is a favorite. As long as she isn't too stupid. I mean everyone makes mistakes, but if she avoids common sense then face-palming is in order.
2) What sort of character development would you most like to play through with the protagonist? Shy to outgoing? Pessimistic to optimistic? Naive to well-informed?
All of those are awesome, but also learning to love, and depending on the situation from jaded to trusting their partner is something I find great in a protagonist too.
3) Do you prefer when the protagonist's appearance matches your ideal standards of beauty (hourglass figure/flowing hair/etc.) or when she's more average?
I don't mind any of that really, average or pretty I tend to imagine things differently. XD
4) What traits/mannerisms would completely turn you off from the protagonist?
Maybe when she doesn't have her own personality. I mean I know it's not just me, but when the character can't be true to herself, or be someone other than the nice virgin stupid type than I get turned off.
STORY QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) What goals do you strive to achieve in an otome game? A kiss? Implied "intimacy?" Marriage?
All of those things if those are a given. If they are available in the otome game, then I'm gonna get em no matter what!!
2) Do you prefer when the protagonist and the boy of your choice clash or share plenty of chemistry? Should he be hard to get, or would you rather indulge in the romance from the get-go?
I prefer both on the pretense that the characters have to work together to find that love for each other instead of jumping into things. Especially if they didn't have that chemistry before because then it wouldn't make sense to me. I don't believe you can love someone so quickly, depending on the situation.
3) Do you enjoy harem endings, or do you prefer to keep it monogamous?
LOL THIS QUESTION reminds me of something. I've never actually delved into a harem ending honestly, I'm pretty sure it'd amuse me greatly though. XDFinally, what are some otome games you've loved, and what are some you've hated?A big thank you to anyone who has anything to say on this topic~!
I loved Hatoful Boyfriend, it was a good mix of sweet and a lot of bittersweet if you know what I mean. I just love a good tragedy. I have others including: My Forged Wedding, In Your Arms Tonight, and several other Voltage games. XD
I haven't exactly found games that I have hated more like elements of the game that I hated. For example, Love Academy had a really dumb protagonist, but the love-interests were darlings so I liked them.

If yes, what sorts of mini-games do you like to play, and at which point in your play (outside of the narrative like MCL/during events/etc.) do you feel they best add to the experience? No, certainly not. I am beyond annoyed when I met a lot of mini games when I am doing my otome gaming and it wasted a lot of my time. Let's take an example with mini games in Wand of Fortune that needed you to do it to advance through the story. I've practically had enough.
2) Is a voice-acting cast important to your otome experience? If no, do you see it as a bonus or an annoyance? If yes, what does the voice-acting add for you?Voice-acting? I am not really strict to the seiyuus and voice-actors, as long as they make the characters I like in 'character', it's simply a bonus. While I don't really like english voice-actors, to be honest. Except some experts that could make it as good as the japanese ones.
3) What sort of options do you like to have during and after gameplay? Dialog-skip buttons? Auto-dialog buttons? Buttons that allow you to read previous text? Etc.?Dialog Skip. Logs (buttons that allow me to read and hear the voice of the characters in previous texts). Gallery. Auto-dialog.
BOYS QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) Which boy personalities do you find you're most interested in when you play an otome game, and why? (ex: The bad boy, the gentleman, the ladies' man, etc.)First priority: Do-S, Oresama, Onii-san, Bad Boy, Childhood friend.
Second priority: Gentleman, Haraguro, Obsessive, Banchou.
Very least priority: Long-haired boys, tsundere, do-m, shota.
2) Which boy personalities could you live without in an otome game, and why?Yandere, perhaps. It's not that I specifically like them or whatsort, but heh.
3) What sort of appearances appeal to you most? (ex: Blond hair, big eyes, evil grin, etc.)BLOND HAIR TOTALLY. NEXT IS RED HAIR (NO TSUNDERE OK). And then white hair. Those are my top three. Other than that? I don't really care, to be honest.
4) How do you decide which boy to go after? Is it the way he looks? His first lines of dialog? His importance to the storyline?I sorted in an accordingly way:
1. His looks. I'm one of those who judge first appearance more than personality.
2. Personality / Attitude.
3. Spoilers from his routes.
5) What would make you stop chasing after your favorite guy?1. No awesome CGs.
2. They are surprisingly boring and cliched.
My best qualities for protagonists are easy. I'm not so strict when it comes to the heroine, except for some qualifications (I'm a lover of apperance-wise and visuals, so that may conclude why appearance is one of the biggest thing that made me like / dislike a character).
She could be polite, I'll more appreciate an honest, and also innocent looking heroine. I don't like any 'strong' look for the heroine, to be honest, I don't really like it. I don't like do-S heroines and I don't like any door-mats (Perhaps, Yahisa from Starry Sky isn't one of them). Any heroines who had tsundere 'attitude' or long brown / black hair. Or a heroine with short bopped blue hair. I'm fine with pinks.
Other than some qualifications that I said above, I might like or might not like them. But most of the time, I just ignore it.
2) What sort of character development would you most like to play through with the protagonist? Shy to outgoing? Pessimistic to optimistic? Naive to well-informed?-> Shy to Outgoing (but not so much)
Meh, I don't really know about how sort of character development that I actually like, since most of the time I just know it when I'm playing the game..
3) Do you prefer when the protagonist's appearance matches your ideal standards of beauty (hourglass figure/flowing hair/etc.) or when she's more average?YES. She needs to fit into my ideal standard (the long hair / tsundere-look / short hair is nifty).
4) What traits/mannerisms would completely turn you off from the protagonist?Tsundere. Kuudere. Long-hair. Doormats. The girl who could dominate all the guys at first play.
STORY QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) What goals do you strive to achieve in an otome game? A kiss? Implied "intimacy?" Marriage?Everything that is fluffy. Or graphic-wise good (like Benkei's bad endings, which has a beautiful CG with 'red'). Well, most of the time is 'intimate moments', 'kisses' and 'marriage'. They are nifty.
2) Do you prefer when the protagonist and the boy of your choice clash or share plenty of chemistry? Should he be hard to get, or would you rather indulge in the romance from the get-go?Most of the time, average chemistry. They could clash at first and then have a lovey dovey moment, or the otherwise. Actually, I'm fine with everything as long as they ended up together.
3) Do you enjoy harem endings, or do you prefer to keep it monogamous?
I hate open endings, moreover harem endings. I'll definitely drop it if they contain a lot of harem endings.
Finally, what are some otome games you've loved, and what are some you've hated?
Games that I love? Wow, that is a lot.
Love:
1. Starry Sky - In Spring & Winter
2. Tokyo Yamanote Boys - Dark Cherry (Rudou Jessssuuusss)
3. GENROH
4. Diabolik Lovers
5. ... and lotssss other.
Hate:
1. Ugh. Hana Awase.-> Yeah, I hate this.
2. Uta no Prince-sama. -> This too.
3. Amnesia -> Only slight dislike.
4. Wand of Fortune -> The same.

Re: Otome Survey Time~
1) Is a voice-acting cast important to your otome experience? If no, do you see it as a bonus or an annoyance? If yes, what does the voice-acting add for you?
For an official game, I thik that it's important. For a non-official or fan made game, it's not that important. I think that it adds more feelings and the tone, the way it's said can convey more than just a text.
2) What sort of options do you like to have during and after gameplay? Dialog-skip buttons? Auto-dialog buttons? Buttons that allow you to read previous text? Etc.?
I pretty like dialog-skip buttons and Buttons that allow you to read previous text because when you play a game another time, you get bored to have to read all over the story. For the previous text button, since I'm careless, I tend to skip scenes that I didn't want to skip
3) Which boy personalities do you find you're most interested in when you play an otome game, and why? (ex: The bad boy, the gentleman, the ladies' man, etc.)
I like the bad boy, the gentleman, the top student (well, megane, megane :3), the big brother, the sweet prince and the carefree type :3
4) Which boy personalities could you live without in an otome game, and why?
Meganeee! Also a mature personnality (but not an ojii-san O_O)
5) What sort of appearances appeal to you most? (ex: Blond hair, big eyes, evil grin, etc.)
I like black/brown hair with dark eyes, I also like the mix: brown hair, blue eyes :3
6) How do you decide which boy to go after? Is it the way he looks? His first lines of dialog? His importance to the storyline?
First, the character; Second, the looks; Third, the voice (if the game is voiced) or the dialog; Fourth, the importance of the storyline
7) What sort of personalities/qualities do you like best in a protagonist? Should she be smart, or a bit of a screw-up? Polite, or blunt? Or would you be willing to follow any protagonist, so long as she weren't too despicable?
Gentle, smart (but not too much), somewhat witty, polite, cute? But I follow the protagonist ^_^
8) What sort of character development would you most like to play through with the protagonist? Shy to outgoing? Pessimistic to optimistic? Naive to well-informed?
Since I'm super shy, I would like a character shy to outgoing
9) Do you prefer when the protagonist's appearance matches your ideal standards of beauty (hourglass figure/flowing hair/etc.) or when she's more average?
I prefer when she's not too perfect but not too average ^_^' like she can have some really good qualities but little default
10) What goals do you strive to achieve in an otome game? A kiss? Implied "intimacy?" Marriage?
A kiss is enough, but I would like to have like a "2nd story" when the protagonists are together and have a "real" ending with a marriage ^_^
11) Do you prefer when the protagonist and the boy of your choice clash or share plenty of chemistry? Should he be hard to get, or would you rather indulge in the romance from the get-go?
I like when they clash a little but not too much since I dislike fights ^_^ He shouldn't be too hard to get nor too simple. If it's too hard I tend to quit quickly, but when it's too simple I get bored
12) Do you enjoy harem endings, or do you prefer to keep it monogamous?
I looove harem endings because you have a lot of bishies *w* But monogamous is fine too ^_^
For an official game, I thik that it's important. For a non-official or fan made game, it's not that important. I think that it adds more feelings and the tone, the way it's said can convey more than just a text.

12) Do you enjoy harem endings, or do you prefer to keep it monogamous?
I looove harem endings because you have a lot of bishies *w* But monogamous is fine too ^_^

Protagonist Questions
Games I've Enjoyed include Amnesia, (P)lanets, P3P, Always Remember Me, and Hatoful Boyfriend.
Games I hated are My Candy Love, Mote Mote, Heartful Chance, and Love Academy.
- Spoiler:
- 1:) I'm both ways when it comes to mini games. I think If its done well, then it will make the game funner. If there would be mini games though, I'd prefer the choice to choose difficulty as some otome mini games I've played have been pretty brutal and others far too simple.
2:) I'm a huge VA fan, both in the English and Japanese language. I'm especially a huge fan of English VA so I love games to be voice acted and don't find it as annoying. I mainly enjoy it because I do fandubs on the side and want to be a professional mainly and I just really like hearing the characters and the heart pounding scenes are much more exciting when voice acted (especially if dummy mic is involved >.>)
3: Auto Dialog buttons during gameplay and a skip function afterwards. I can't really think anything interesting else to say...
Boys Questions
- Spoiler:
- 1:) I really like princely type characters, Yandere characters, Shota characters, and Genki characters.
2:) Personally I could live without the cold smarty boys. I don't find the appeal in the character and they make me angry with how they treat the MC most of the time.
3:) Blonde Hair, White Hair, Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, bishonen face mostly.
4:) Uh This ones kinda hard. There are lots of things that decide who I go after. I tend to go after the ones that appeal to me the most, both personality wise and looks wise. But I'll also go after a character if I find them to be important to story since I'll want to know badly. And also if a favorite VA plays someone or I like their name, that also has me decide who to go after.
5:) If he treats people in the game badly for no good reason/does something horrible.
Protagonist Questions
- Spoiler:
- 1:) I'm fine with most Protagonist personality's, though I'm more fond of MC's that are Blunt and smart with a bit of a quirk and doesn't take shit from other characters. (being insulted, bullied, etc) But as long as they aren't the definition of Mary Sue, then I will follow any Protagonist.
2:) Out of the ones listed, Shy to Outgoing pops out to me the most. Id also like a MC thats confident/idiotic to be knocked down a peg or two.
3:) I don't really mind either way. I like both beautiful and average MC's, no real preference there.
4:) A girl that goes along to anything anyone says and doesn't defend herself is a big turnoff.
- Spoiler:
- 1:) I really just want the characters to be happy together, whether its through a kiss, intimacy or marriage. It'd be better if it didn't end once they get together though.
2:) Ugh that's hard. I like both the chase and the feeling that they were fated... I think I like chemistry more than the chase though.
3:) Monogamous, though a harem ending I have no objections to, though I just like Monogamous more for personal reasons.
Games I've Enjoyed include Amnesia, (P)lanets, P3P, Always Remember Me, and Hatoful Boyfriend.
Games I hated are My Candy Love, Mote Mote, Heartful Chance, and Love Academy.

Re: Otome Survey Time~
Yay! I love to answer those kind of things. Allons-y ! (Let's hope I'm not going to ramble too much)
GAME MECHANIC QUESTIONS :
As for the games I hated, there are none but there are games I liked less : Starry Sky in spring (I got bored), Love & Order, Love Revo (Getting thin to please guys who were total jurks to you before... not sure I like the message it sends to girls)
For some games I hesitate between love and not so much love, because they disappointed me. Like Winter in Fairbrook, so short! I thought it would be longer an have more scenes with the guys. It was sad because I loved the art so much and the introduction was good *sob* I wanted more!
GAME MECHANIC QUESTIONS :
- Spoiler:
- 1) I like mini-games, like puzzle or baking cake for your guy. It doesn't bother me at all since a huge majority of the mini-games I came accross were very easy to play. However I don't like when the mini-games have no purpose at all in the story. Good mini-game is like making chocolate for valentine's day in TMGS, bad one would be adding a Prof Layton puzzle in Starry Sky, there's no point in doing that. So all in all I think mini-games are good as long as it has a real purpuse and complement the story without killing it's pace.
2) Voice acting is not mandatory for me to enjoy a game. But! I found myself liking more a story when there is voice acting. Because it adds something extra to the characters. When you only read the text, you make them sound like you want in your head, but the little details of the dialogues like poses for breath, hesitations in the voice or annoyance when saying something apparently neutral make the dialogue so much deeper. I mean when you read I love you on the screen, it's nice but when you hear it, it's to die for!
3) Well the usual I guess : save, load, skip,...
- Spoiler:
- 1) It's so difficult for me to answer that because I never fell for the same personalities throughout the different games I play. In some stories I like tsundere and in others I'm all for the loyal childhood friend or the cold bad boy who gets in fights. I'm not attracted to a certain stereotype but more to the character as a whole : what he looks like, what he stands for, how he's talking to others,...
2) If I really have to choose one type I'd say : shota. I don't know if this qualifies as a personality but I don't like younger boys, maybe because I'm not so young myself. Then pursuing them feels wrong. And I prefer mature guys over innocent ones.
3) Um... let's see. Evil grin sounds fun, I'll go for that. Also I love megane (give a man glasses and he'll look twice hotter). But to be honest I'm not really attracted by looks in general, if the art is good enough, all the boys'll ultimately look good.
4) It depends on the story, I usually go for the one whose plot seems the more interesting (or dangerous). That's for the VN, for the dating sim with stat raising, I rise stat as what would reflect my own abilities and see who I end up meeting the most.
5) I have absolutely no idea. I always finish the route to the end. Maybe if he'd start dating another girl after he confessed to me or if he's going on a mission to kill cats or babies or baby cats... XD
- Spoiler:
- 1) She has to be a bit aware of the world, she can be shy or a bit inocent but not to the point where you ask yourself if the mc has even seen two people kissing in a movie or if she knows the difference between boys and girls. No teenage girl is that oblivious. With that said, she can be smart or clumsy or a complete tomboy or even the most tastefull lady there is, as long as she has a personality.
2) Anything is fine as it fits the story in a more or less realistic way. I'd like her to grow from her experiences.
3) I don't have an ideal standard of beauty so... I really don't care how she looks.
4) Empty shell. You know : no face, no personality, no emotion, no retort or whatsoever.
- Spoiler:
- 1) The goal is to have the main plot revealed if there's one. After that anything is fine as long as every character doesn't leed to the same ending (I hate when it's too predictible) TMGS has the worst endings (imo), unlike Dandelion that has some nice endings, all different from one another.
2) Both! A good clash can easily turn into a lot of chemistry afterwards (in so many ways...) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] As for the hard to get or not, well, depends on the personality of the character.
3) I have never seen a harem ending... and now I imagine it... and now my nose is bleeding... *avoid the question discreetly and keep her pervyness to herself*
As for the games I hated, there are none but there are games I liked less : Starry Sky in spring (I got bored), Love & Order, Love Revo (Getting thin to please guys who were total jurks to you before... not sure I like the message it sends to girls)

PROTAGONIST QUESTIONS:
STORY QUESTIONS:
Which is why all games I work on try to keep these things in mind!
Games I have enjoyed: Knife of the Traitor, Dandelion: Wishes Brought to You, Night at the Hospital (bl not otome but still)
- Spoiler:
1)
Occasionally. I liked finding stamps and doing activities to meet dudes in Dandelion, but stat raising itself often got tedious, especially if you maxed out early or if the story tried to pull a "guy is not in area for half a month because he's having EMOTIONS so you can't raise stats" situation. That's just padding out a game.
2) It doesn't matter in my opinion, as there have been good games without voice actors and good games with voice actors. I'd say if actors are used in your game, make sure they commit to the character at the very least. Music, on the other hand, is important.
3) I abuse the skip button in games that heavily reuse dialog trees on multiple paths (looking at you, Dandelion.) Games that are more story based with different written paths (like Hakada Shitsuji, which is totally not an otome game but w/e), don't require using the skip button because nine times out of ten a different choice will get a different response, every single time.I should also say that I abuse the quicksave and save buttons a lot as well, unless it's a super short game.
BOYS QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) It really depends on how they're written. I can say that I like the dumb bara type, or the ossan/oyaji type, but if a character is written well, I'll usually enjoy playing their path.
2) Abusive boyfriend routes are usually pretty disgusting, especially when it's made out like that's how a good relationship is supposed to be. I'm not against BDSM, as that's different, but I'm against abusive relationships. Relying on cliches and tropes like "the yandere" or "the tsundere" can get super annoying after a while if that's all the character has to them, too.
3) So long as the art style is unique and solid, I'm good. Games that cut the corners on polishing their art or have weird anatomy are serious turn offs.
4) I usually get all paths I don't care about out of the way first, then play the path I want to play the most last.
5) See #2
PROTAGONIST QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1)
I'm kind of tired of the same timid, nice-girl, vaguely stupid type. More personality in my otome game heroines, please!
2) If the heroine can develop on her own and not be overly influenced by the paths she's going after, that's interesting to me.
3) All otome game heroines kind of look the same to me--the shojo comic idea of "average", which tends to be a small petite girl with brown hair. Vary it up with the designs!
4) If it's late in the game and the protagonist is still agreeing to do what anyone says, being a total doormat, and letting people take advantage of her, then I'd be pretty irritated.
STORY QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) Anything is fine so long as it fits the story and the tone of that path.
2)
Again, depends on the story and the tone of that path.
3) We need more harem endings in otome! Regular dating games can't hog all the fun!
Which is why all games I work on try to keep these things in mind!

BOYS QUESTIONS:
PROTAGONIST QUESTIONS:
Must... sleep...
Cannot.. resist... voicing... opinion...!
GAME MECHANIC QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) I like mini-games, as long as there aren't too many of them. Preferably during events. If the game has no mini-games, it's much harder to explain, so I'd rather have the one save file I can always load to show people the game in a more acceptable way.
2) Voice acting IS the otome experience. Hearing that kind, beautiful voice or those cold, serious tones... that's what makes it all worth it!!
3) Dialog skip please~
BOYS QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) I love them all, except for shouta characters and all sorts of kohais... they make me feel motherly, and that's a thing I get enough of irl; when playing an otomege I want to just fell relaxed and safe and fluffy on the inside ^____^. So no clingy characters. (Though persistent characters are good).
Personal favourites are bad boys, playboys, slightly perverted sempais, tsundere-ish types.
2) The rough teacher character, I don't know the exact term. They're mostly rude and I never seem to bother finishing their routes. They're fine as background.
Also childhood best friends, they are sooooooo not attractive.
3) Being a tiny bit forceful with the heroine, maybe even mean. I also like oranya (mean and violent to everyone but the heroine) characters.
4) Mostly dialogue and looks... And of course the voice actor.
5) Nothing, really. I kind of believe things will turn out for the best so I just play with whatever the game gives me.
PROTAGONIST QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) I prefer the "make your own protagonist" type, though it's more common in regular harem VNs. I can play with any character, even if she's despicable (unless it's incest of any kind. Then you lose me)
2) Naive to realistic, I think. Sometime Grease-like transformation is fun, a goody-two-shoes who becomes a bad girl thanks to her beau. Becoming a loving person instead of the tsundere\bully she was.
3) I don't like the average ones, that's all I can really say... The average girl feels like an empty shell.
4) Incest! That's it.- Spoiler:
STORY QUESTIONS:
2) I enjoy both options, so I can't really say.
3) Monogamous!

STORY QUESTIONS:
I really enjoyed Love Letter from Thief X by Voltage Inc. because the heroine actually stands up for herself in the game. I wouldn't say hate, but there are a few other otome games available on the App Store that I really don't care for due to spelling, grammar, and typing issues (some words continue onto another line when they should have started on the second line to begin with).
- Spoiler:
1) I like mini games because they are kind of like a break from the reading aspect of the games. I don't have a particular favorite type. It just needs to work and be properly explained and I'm good.
2) I see voice acting as a bonus.
3) I love "skip already read text" and "reread" options. I also like the "instant" text option because I sometime read faster than the normal speed that the text is displayed at.
BOYS QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) The good guys and the best friends. I pick these guys because they're the type of guys I'm interested in in real life as well.
2) The guys who are jerks most of the time and are only nice once in a blue moon, abusive guys, and guys who aren't interested in the relationship. And furries.
3) Dark hair, dark eyes, and a warm smile are what I look for.
4) Personality and looks the former of which is shown through dialogue.
5) He turns out to be the opposite of what he was presented as, his route includes things I really don't care for in a romance game (rape, incest, other things of that nature).
PROTAGONIST QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) I like protagonist who do more than just take in air. I like protagonist who aren't just self insert characters. She needs to be able to take care of herself and not rely on somebody else to make her all of her decisions for her. Her not having any dialogue other than one liners (yeah, okay, you're right, etc) is a major negative in my book.
2) Any character development is good with me.
3) Well I don't really have a preferred look, but I'm not into tattoos, crazy hair, heavy makeup or lots of piercings (on anybody for that matter)
4) Incest, rape, furries, being completely submissive and having no personality.
STORY QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) A long lasting happy relationship is what I aim for. Whether or not that concerns marriage is not a deal breaker.
2) I prefer having chemistry from the start.
3) Monogamy is my choice, though a harem ending doesn't bother me as long as everyone in it is okay with it.
Finally, what are some otome games you've loved, and what are some you've hated?
A big thank you to anyone who has anything to say on this topic~!I really enjoyed Love Letter from Thief X by Voltage Inc. because the heroine actually stands up for herself in the game. I wouldn't say hate, but there are a few other otome games available on the App Store that I really don't care for due to spelling, grammar, and typing issues (some words continue onto another line when they should have started on the second line to begin with).

STORY QUESTIONS:
Finally, what are some otome games you've loved, and what are some you've hated?
Hmm. I won't remember all of the games I've played (not that there are many - my memory is just bad XD) buuut...
I enjoyed the Starry Sky series for the most part (the first four games and after Spring so far). In Summer was disappoint though, I didn't like the characters that much and the guy I went for was extremely shy or whatever and didn't make a move until the very end.
In Spring was cute because Kanata's tsundereness is just adorable. Didn't care much about his background story and anything else though.
In Winter was better, it has the guy who represents my sign, Kazuki, and also the adorable and funny Tsubasa. I loved both guys and their routes. I actually cared about Tsubasa's past and troubles (his hug CGs were just........perfect). Kazuki's story was harder for me to understand and I found it to be kind of weird since it has supernatural stuff involved. It was fine for the most part though, he's a really nice character.
In Autumn was also fun, the teacher trio made the game a little different than the other games. Naoshi was my favorite and the only guy I went after. His route was nice mostly due to the whole teacher-student thing that added some tension.
The first and third Tokimemo were really fun to play and had an interesting cast. I like raising stats and going out with the guys, but I missed having an ongoing story and not just the guy telling you stuff during dates and event scenes.
Well that's it, I rambled way too much! :'D This sure was fun to answer though.
-----------
GAME MECHANIC QUESTIONS:
I enjoy mini-games if they're simple and allow you to see something cute and/or funny (like chibi sprites or an additional dialogue). It's also fun when you play a mini-game with or for a certain character.
I don't mind any type of mini-game, be it during an event or during the story. They're all fun to me.
2) Is a voice-acting cast important to your otome experience? If no, do you see it as a bonus or an annoyance? If yes, what does the voice-acting add for you?
I particularly enjoy voice acting if the game is in Japanese since I'm terrible at understanding it when it's written but I can understand most of what is spoken.
If the game is in English it wouldn't make the experience less interesting for me if there's no voice acting. Having it or not is fine by me.
3) What sort of options do you like to have during and after gameplay? Dialog-skip buttons? Auto-dialog buttons? Buttons that allow you to read previous text? Etc.?
Skip, Auto, Text log, a button to remove the dialogue box so you can stare at the pretty pictures (coughtakescreenshotscough) and the obvious Save, Quick Save, Load, Quick Load, Config.
BOYS QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) Which boy personalities do you find you're most interested in when you play an otome game, and why? (ex: The bad boy, the gentleman, the ladies' man, etc.)
I like the sweet guys, especially when they come in certain combinations: sweet-tsundere (the type of tsundere that isn't an annoying brat, just overly shy and self-conscious), sweet-energetic (caring guy who has lots of energy and wants to have fun, acts like a cute pet dog), sweet-oniichan (is/looks older, likes to protect and help people around him but also has an additional, like being a scaredy-cat or shy when in romantic situations), sweet-otouto (is/looks younger but isn't a shota, is brave and funny and adorable).
2) Which boy personalities could you live without in an otome game, and why?
Any personalities that induce sexism or misogyny. Examples: guys who are possessive, over-protective or just plain twisted (like yanderes). Any guy who treats the heroine or other girls differently for being of the opposite gender.
3) What sort of appearances appeal to you most? (ex: Blond hair, big eyes, evil grin, etc.)
I like guys who mix masculine with feminine, like Syo from Utapri. Painted nails, cute hair accessories... and if the game has kinky scenes, kinky crossdressing!
Any hair or eye color is fine by me, except some weird combinations like black hair+red eyes. It just looks silly.
I like short or medium spiked hair the most, but I don't mind other haircuts. Personality matters the most in the end.
I like characters with soft/cute smiles or big grins, especially mischievous/playful ones. Any eye size is fine as long as they aren't really big.
As for body types, I don't like guys who are too thin. Unfortunately that's pretty much the norm in otome games and visual novels as a whole. I like average, chubby and muscular bodies.
Height doesn't matter to me either, short and tall characters are both adorable.
4) How do you decide which boy to go after? Is it the way he looks? His first lines of dialog? His importance to the storyline?
Most designs give away the characters' personalities (that's something that bothers me a bit) so I usually pick the ones that seem to be the sweet-something types.
If there's a character whose route is pretty important and he isn't an asshole I go after him too, and also any character that picks my interest during the game.
5) What would make you stop chasing after your favorite guy?
The guy being too sexist/misogynistic or just plain creepy. Most otome game guys throw some sexist/creepy lines here and there ("you're a girl, let me handle this" or "I'll protect you from everyone" or "you're only mine" etc) but there's a limit. If the guy crosses that limit, bye bye.
I don't like the usual heroines otome games have. I usually like their girl friends better.
It would be nice to see a protagonist who is blunt or just not super polite, socially awkward or a bit shy, funny, kind but not an idiot that takes other people's shit, with a strong personality and strong beliefs.
I endure any kind of heroine as long as the rest of the game is nice.
2) What sort of character development would you most like to play through with the protagonist? Shy to outgoing? Pessimistic to optimistic? Naive to well-informed?
Probably shy to outgoing/confident since that's what I identify with the most. Also growing emotionally stronger, learning to respect herself and love herself too.
3) Do you prefer when the protagonist's appearance matches your ideal standards of beauty (hourglass figure/flowing hair/etc.) or when she's more average?
I hate beauty standards with all of my being. I like it when the protagonist is average and doesn't have your shy-and-polite-school-girl look. Would be nice to see protagonists with different skin shades, some who care about their appearance and some who don't, some who are tomboy and some who are super girly etc. Variety is the key.
(also protags who aren't completely naive and childish and actually have a sexual side. variety can also be played with here)
4) What traits/mannerisms would completely turn you off from the protagonist?
Being jealous/envious of her friends and being competitive with them, being too passive, too naive, apologizing too much.
STORY QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) What goals do you strive to achieve in an otome game? A kiss? Implied "intimacy?" Marriage?
A strong and intimate relationship. A kiss is always nice but being more sexual than that would make the game feel more real and also more interesting.
2) Do you prefer when the protagonist and the boy of your choice clash or share plenty of chemistry? Should he be hard to get, or would you rather indulge in the romance from the get-go?
A combination of both, I think. If the protag has a strong personality they'll clash at some point, and that's completely fine as long as it doesn't cause some really dumb fight. Depends on the reason.
3) Do you enjoy harem endings, or do you prefer to keep it monogamous?
Fufufufu, I love poly-amorous relationships! I wish otome games had more of that, and not only those 18+ ones.
Finally, what are some otome games you've loved, and what are some you've hated?
Hmm. I won't remember all of the games I've played (not that there are many - my memory is just bad XD) buuut...

PROTAGONIST QUESTIONS:
STORY QUESTIONS:
What are some otome games you've loved, and what are some you've hated?
- Hakuouki was memorable. Tokimeki GS got better over time as well, especially with 3P endings. I haven't played enough official games to list what I love or hate.
- Personally I don't really like mini-games. I think they are tedious when I just like to lay around and relax...
2) Is a voice-acting cast important to your otome experience? If no, do you see it as a bonus or an annoyance? If yes, what does the voice-acting add for you?
- Voice acting cast is of no concern to me. If there's voice acting, that's a bonus to me. I like hearing how the dialogue is said.
3) What sort of options do you like to have during and after gameplay? Dialog-skip buttons? Auto-dialog buttons? Buttons that allow you to read previous text? Etc.?
- Dialogue/skip buttons are useful, screens that let me read-back, save/load, a gallery, pretty much the usual.
BOYS QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) Which boy personalities do you find you're most interested in when you play an otome game, and why? (ex: The bad boy, the gentleman, the ladies' man, etc.)
- I like the nice, gentle personalities. I also like the cheerful ones, ones who are very animated, ones who show a lot of emotion, etc. I like most personalities except the crazy-types.
2) Which boy personalities could you live without in an otome game, and why?
- Sociopathic/yandere personalities.
3) What sort of appearances appeal to you most? (ex: Blond hair, big eyes, evil grin, etc.)
- I don't know if this applies, but I like when the ones who don't show a lot of emotion, show smiles, blushes, laughs, etc. The teasing look is what I like the most though. ^_^
4) How do you decide which boy to go after? Is it the way he looks? His first lines of dialog? His importance to the storyline?
- Usually the one I think is the main love interest, then anyone that I think is interesting in terms of looks or personality.
5) What would make you stop chasing after your favorite guy?
- If he turns crazy.

- 1) What sort of personalities/qualities do you like best in a protagonist? Should she be smart, or a bit of a screw-up? Polite, or blunt? Or would you be willing to follow any protagonist, so long as she weren't too despicable?
- Honestly as long as she has a backbone, thinks for herself, has an attitude, and doesn't crumble easily in the face of adversity, she's good to me.
2) What sort of character development would you most like to play through with the protagonist? Shy to outgoing? Pessimistic to optimistic? Naive to well-informed?
- Naive to well-informed is good.
- Or someone who did something inconsiderate due to a character flaw then learns from her mistakes.
- or an unhappy character who is too apathetic to change her life around, to being shown that she could take life less for granted if she did something, to becoming more proud and confident thanks to people who care.
- basically a character who learns a major lesson and changes from it is something I like.
3) Do you prefer when the protagonist's appearance matches your ideal standards of beauty (hourglass figure/flowing hair/etc.) or when she's more average?
- Customization is ideal and fun... but probably more work for developers.
- Either is fine with me
4) What traits/mannerisms would completely turn you off from the protagonist?
- breaks down easily when facing trouble
- does not improve a character flaw or learn her lesson
- a doormat personality
- does not use common sense
STORY QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) What goals do you strive to achieve in an otome game? A kiss? Implied "intimacy?" Marriage?
- Intimacy or marriage are good outcomes.
- I can't be satisfied with just a kiss lol.
2) Do you prefer when the protagonist and the boy of your choice clash or share plenty of chemistry? Should he be hard to get, or would you rather indulge in the romance from the get-go?
- I like when they clash AND show chemistry. It's more entertaining that way. And possibly hard to get. Romance from the get-go is too easy.
3) Do you enjoy harem endings, or do you prefer to keep it monogamous?
- I like monogamous more; harem endings are like extra bonuses to me.
What are some otome games you've loved, and what are some you've hated?
- Hakuouki was memorable. Tokimeki GS got better over time as well, especially with 3P endings. I haven't played enough official games to list what I love or hate.
Re: Otome Survey Time~
3animefancat3 wrote:I hope I'm doing this right >.>;;Ello there, I'm in need of your all's opinions on some otome game elements.
Mini-games are so frustrating sometimes, especially when they are not properly explained. Ever played TMGS? Have you even tried making chocolate?! It's pretty bad.
2) Is a voice-acting cast important to your otome experience? If no, do you see it as a bonus or an annoyance? If yes, what does the voice-acting add for you?
I really love voice acting of other characters but for the heroine/hero, it's not a necessity. It actually surprises me a little bit when I hear the he/she speak. It's a little more jarring when the female character speaks because it sort of feels like I'm not into it. But if the guys speak, it's exciting and adds a whole new dimension of something they can like. Plus, emotions and little nuances get across better.
3) What sort of options do you like to have during and after gameplay? Dialog-skip buttons? Auto-dialog buttons? Buttons that allow you to read previous text? Etc.?
I love all of those things. Sometimes auto is good if your hands are busy but you still want to play. Dialogue skip is almost necessary if you're going to replay the game. I might not replay a game if I havd to do every single thing over again.
BOYS QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) Which boy personalities do you find you're most interested in when you play an otome game, and why? (ex: The bad boy, the gentleman, the ladies' man, etc.)
I generally go after the hard-asses or the joker characters. One is hard on the outside and soft within (effectively, tsundere) , and the joker almost always has a dark past/personality. Darkness is always attractive.
2) Which boy personalities could you live without in an otome game, and why?
I could do without Mr. Perfect. It's a little annoying after a while and you all know that he's the "true path".
3) What sort of appearances appeal to you most? (ex: Blond hair, big eyes, evil grin, etc.)
I like the dark looking characters or the characters who seem that they could have a dark interior. I'm not really sure how to explain that. I generally hate long-haired guys though, and would also prefer guys with "normal" hair colours. I'm not into the whole futuristic look, thing. Minimal piercings or tattoos.
4) How do you decide which boy to go after? Is it the way he looks? His first lines of dialog? His importance to the storyline?
I decide by the way he is introduced. In those few moments, I take in his voice, appearance, personality, and some semblance of a past. If he's squeal-worthy, I go for it. Appearance is very big though!
5) What would make you stop chasing after your favorite guy?
A better guy, or if he's acting like a complete jerk!
I'm done with the ditsy, innocent (Mary Sue) character, but I suppose it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I like have a generally neutral character whose personality will be decided through your decisions. It really depends on the story.
2) What sort of character development would you most like to play through with the protagonist? Shy to outgoing? Pessimistic to optimistic? Naive to well-informed?
Naive to well-informed, which could also equate to optimistic to pessimistic. Pessimistic to optimistic might not be so bad, depending on the story!
3) Do you prefer when the protagonist's appearance matches your ideal standards of beauty (hourglass figure/flowing hair/etc.) or when she's more average?
I think that simple is good. It's just a little more real.
4) What traits/mannerisms would completely turn you off from the protagonist?
Stuttering and complete naivete. Stuttering is only okay if it's integral to the story. Like I said, I'm sort of finished with ditsy little girls.
STORY QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
1) What goals do you strive to achieve in an otome game? A kiss? Implied "intimacy?" Marriage?
I guess... intimacy. Kisses aren't as big of a deal and it's sort of interesting if they get thrown in. Marriage isn't necessary since the characters are usually pretty young.
2) Do you prefer when the protagonist and the boy of your choice clash or share plenty of chemistry? Should he be hard to get, or would you rather indulge in the romance from the get-go?
Hard-to-get. I like the process. Sometimes the clashing can be really interesting, if done well. It's better than just throwing it all out there from day one. I like when he's just out of reach.
3) Do you enjoy harem endings, or do you prefer to keep it monogamous?
Monogamous. Otherwise, what's the point of picking a path? Also, you can then replay the game over and over! Finally, what are some otome games you've loved, and what are some you've hated?
Some much loved games are Hakuouki, Starry Sky (all of them!), Diabolik Lovers, and DRAMAtical Murder (yaoi). The Second Reproduction was pretty fun too. I wasn't a big fan of freeware games, mostly because they are not usually voiced and the art is usually sub-par.

STORY QUESTIONS:
didn't play a lot aha, but the second reproduction was pretty boring, it just made me not want to continue... well it's a pure visual novel so it must be long but starry sky didn't bore me at all, it was fun even though it was text text text~ i like those tmgs and love revo styled stuff but later on it gets really repetitive, torwards the end i have all my requirements and just end up rejecting date invites because i want to hurry and get the ending... i really like anime based otome like gakupuri~ gakupuri and dokisuba were my favourites cuz they're based off of tenipuri and i love tenipuri aha~
I think mini games are fine, as long as they don't effect the plotline depending on how well you do and they don't take much time~ I really like the valentines choco game in TMGS3 (not the annoying one in TMGS1-2)
2) Is a voice-acting cast important to your otome experience? If no, do you see it as a bonus or an annoyance? If yes, what does the voice-acting add for you?
It makes it feel sooo reallll~ but the first time I heart Kanata's voice in SS i was shocked, I didn't think it would be so low * A * it's a nice bonus, and if it's annoying you can turn it off right? :3
3) What sort of options do you like to have during and after gameplay? Dialog-skip buttons? Auto-dialog buttons? Buttons that allow you to read previous text? Etc.?
Skip buttons are awesome. I end up skipping a lot in otome games XD I don't really use auto, history is important to because sometimes i'm skipping and suddenly theres a choice...
BOYS QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) Which boy personalities do you find you're most interested in when you play an otome game, and why? (ex: The bad boy, the gentleman, the ladies' man, etc.)
I like all of them as long as they're pretty aha~ but tsunderes are the best, i always do them first~
2) Which boy personalities could you live without in an otome game, and why?
I don't really like megane, idk i just don't have that glasses fetish, also those motherly type guys, i don't see a big difference from when you're friends and when he likes you because he's always so nice :S so it doesn't feel speshal when he likes you unlike the tsundere which is FDOIDFJOIFJ <3 shotas are okay i like souta from love revo but if it's like um himaya? that baseball guy from TMGS1 which made me feel so disturbed because HE WASN'T KAWAII ENOUGH
3) What sort of appearances appeal to you most? (ex: Blond hair, big eyes, evil grin, etc.)
I have a thing for guys with long hair especially in ponytails <3 hmm that's basically it, and purdy, they have to be purdy<3 messed up hair is nice too~
4) How do you decide which boy to go after? Is it the way he looks? His first lines of dialog? His importance to the storyline?
sometimes by his looks, or just how much he interests me in the beginning? aha usually i go with the guy that's meanest to me in the beginning >:3
5) What would make you stop chasing after your favorite guy?
i couldn't do that because i would be stuck on his path but sometimes when playing gakupuri and dokisabu the dialogues get so boring and repetitive... Just a boring dialogue that doesn't make you go KYAAAAA ?
PROTAGONIST QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) What sort of personalities/qualities do you like best in a protagonist? Should she be smart, or a bit of a screw-up? Polite, or blunt? Or would you be willing to follow any protagonist, so long as she weren't too despicable?
Strong, not always depending on the guy i hate that most, and pupils pls (utapri o A o) kinda boyish i guess? most protagonists are really similar they're always dense and caring and yaaaa if there was a protagonist that disturbs me... ah it disturbs me when the protagonist is voiced, but it helps me understand what she's saying if i'm playing in japanese XD someone like that girl from la corda d'oro (forgot her name) who is so NORMAL is just terrible the guys fall for her for no reason ;w;
2) What sort of character development would you most like to play through with the protagonist? Shy to outgoing? Pessimistic to optimistic? Naive to well-informed?
I think she should stay the same... nosy, dense, kind, yep :3
3) Do you prefer when the protagonist's appearance matches your ideal standards of beauty (hourglass figure/flowing hair/etc.) or when she's more average?
I'd rather have the face be covered most of the time, with regular looks otherwise it's just strange huh? i like the design of daisy from tmgs series~
4) What traits/mannerisms would completely turn you off from the protagonist?
annoyiinnnggggneessss? hesitation, anxiety, distrust, yup.
STORY QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) What goals do you strive to achieve in an otome game? A kiss? Implied "intimacy?" Marriage?
a epilogue would be nice, marriage, children, that stuff. A kiss should be a must~ just have it happen like once otherwise it's not special anymore... like in under the moon... well that's an otoge so it's different huh?
2) Do you prefer when the protagonist and the boy of your choice clash or share plenty of chemistry? Should he be hard to get, or would you rather indulge in the romance from the get-go?
if he's all lovey dovey and nice from the beginning it's boring, i want a difference between how he treats me and how he treats everyone else~
3) Do you enjoy harem endings, or do you prefer to keep it monogamous?
harem endings are always welcome <3 but i think 2p is best if you're talking about multiple guy endings~
Finally, what are some otome games you've loved, and what are some you've hated?
didn't play a lot aha, but the second reproduction was pretty boring, it just made me not want to continue... well it's a pure visual novel so it must be long but starry sky didn't bore me at all, it was fun even though it was text text text~ i like those tmgs and love revo styled stuff but later on it gets really repetitive, torwards the end i have all my requirements and just end up rejecting date invites because i want to hurry and get the ending... i really like anime based otome like gakupuri~ gakupuri and dokisuba were my favourites cuz they're based off of tenipuri and i love tenipuri aha~

- 1) Which boy personalities do you find you're most interested in when you play an otome game, and why? (ex: The bad boy, the gentleman, the ladies' man, etc.)
The hard to get, the guys with a dark past, the crazy one. Because they're more complex and I want to see what really is under( they're real personality)
2) Which boy personalities could you live without in an otome game, and why?
Cool guy, the ladies man. Umm maybe because I found them too flat, no relief no surprise no challenge even if it's not reallt the case.
3) What sort of appearances appeal to you most? (ex: Blond hair, big eyes, evil grin, etc.)
The tall guy, with a mysterious appereance and a somewhat sarcastic smile or even evil one.
4) How do you decide which boy to go after? Is it the way he looks? His first lines of dialog? His importance to the storyline?
Don't really care about is importance in the storyline what is for me is the first impression. The first interaction is very important it help determine what type of guy he is.

A total change of personality, for example a coureageous guy who became a coward

2) Is a voice-acting cast important to your otome experience? If no, do you see it as a bonus or an annoyance? If yes, what does the voice-acting add for you?

1) What sort of personalities/qualities do you like best in a protagonist? Should she be smart, or a bit of a screw-up? Polite, or blunt? Or would you be willing to follow any protagonist, so long as she weren't too despicable?
If i've my say I would like to have a bold / darring independent girl as the main protagonist. Maybe smart and ironic in bonus. Not necessary beautiful.
Or to personalize her personality with a stat up system.
2) What sort of character development would you most like to play through with the protagonist? Shy to outgoing? Pessimistic to optimistic? Naive to well-informed?
Antisocial to somewhat social or a crybaby to strong
3) Do you prefer when the protagonist's appearance matches your ideal standards of beauty (hourglass figure/flowing hair/etc.) or when she's more average?
I would like to be ablee to chose her apearance. Like that I could adapt it to the guy I pursue
4) What traits/mannerisms would completely turn you off from the protagonist?
Too much naive or too much forgiving
STORY QUESTIONS:
- Spoiler:
- 1) What goals do you strive to achieve in an otome game? A kiss? Implied "intimacy?" Marriage?
No real goal just having the guy I target. It depend of the story. But at least a kiss, and better if there is intimate scene
2) Do you prefer when the protagonist and the boy of your choice clash or share plenty of chemistry? Should he be hard to get, or would you rather indulge in the romance from the get-go?
A bit of both I guess. I like them to be in love but to clash sometimes ( not all the time).
Hard to get, because the happiness of having him in the end is like that sweeter. and because I like challenge.
3) Do you enjoy harem endings, or do you prefer to keep it monogamous?
I like both. But I would consider the monogamous ending more like a bonus

Re: Otome Survey Time~
Hope I didn't miss anything XD
-Can't really say anything about this cause I don't think I've played a game with a harem end ^^"
-I'll just generalize my answer and say that I like those with good art and interesting/funny story and a well-fleshed out development 8D
-Depends on the game. For example, I enjoyed that Valentines chocolate minigame in Tokimeki. Though generally, it annoys me when the game is too difficult... ^^"
2) Is a voice-acting cast important to your otome experience? If no, do you see it as a bonus or an annoyance? If yes, what does the voice-acting add for you?
-Again, of course it depends if it's good voice acting or not... but generally, voiced works are always a plus for me XD
3) What sort of options do you like to have during and after gameplay? Dialog-skip buttons? Auto-dialog buttons? Buttons that allow you to read previous text? Etc.?
-I don't really pay much attention to buttons and stuff... but skip features are very helpful for playing other routes or trying to get better endings... Scroll back features are also nice cause in case I miss certain dialogues ^^"
- Spoiler:
- 1) Which boy personalities do you find you're most interested in when you play an otome game, and why? (ex: The bad boy, the gentleman, the ladies' man, etc.)
- (in order) Kuudere, Tsundere, Yandere... nuff said. Anyway, gentlemen tend to be too generic and boring sometimes... bad boys are fun though, as long as they're not so much of a jerk and their actions are justified... Though, I admit, there are interesting other variations out there. In general, those who are 'unexpected' are most interesting to me 8D
2) Which boy personalities could you live without in an otome game, and why?
-*overly gentle* Gentlemen and cute shy types? >_<
3) What sort of appearances appeal to you most? (ex: Blond hair, big eyes, evil grin, etc.)
-Recently, I've been attracted to boys with their eyes almost covered (or is covered) by something... like hair or hat... but that's just me XD Though, I don't really judge them by looks after playing P3P... I judge them by personality and back story ^^"
4) How do you decide which boy to go after? Is it the way he looks? His first lines of dialog? His importance to the storyline?
-The way he looks and his personality I guess?
5) What would make you stop chasing after your favorite guy?
-Uh... maybe if chasing him leads to his death or something? XD I really can't think of anything right now... but most likely... if he turns out to be shallow or something... idk...
- Spoiler:
- 1) What sort of personalities/qualities do you like best in a protagonist? Should she be smart, or a bit of a screw-up? Polite, or blunt? Or would you be willing to follow any protagonist, so long as she weren't too despicable?
-I like the presentation of the female protagonist in Persona 3... Anyway, generic ones can get annoying I guess...?
2) What sort of character development would you most like to play through with the protagonist? Shy to outgoing? Pessimistic to optimistic? Naive to well-informed?
-Weak to strong or Strong to someone who softens up because of the boy or something...
3) Do you prefer when the protagonist's appearance matches your ideal standards of beauty (hourglass figure/flowing hair/etc.) or when she's more average?
-Average.
4) What traits/mannerisms would completely turn you off from the protagonist?
-Spoiled brat; Too polite; seemingly feisty and strong but turns out to be weak when in danger...
- Spoiler:
- 1) What goals do you strive to achieve in an otome game? A kiss? Implied "intimacy?" Marriage?
-Marriage. Or having a family at the end. Or really, just something extremely sweet...
2) Do you prefer when the protagonist and the boy of your choice clash or share plenty of chemistry? Should he be hard to get, or would you rather indulge in the romance from the get-go?
-Hard to get, but he obviously likes you XD
3) Do you enjoy harem endings, or do you prefer to keep it monogamous?
-Can't really say anything about this cause I don't think I've played a game with a harem end ^^"
Finally, what are some otome games you've loved, and what are some you've hated?
A big thank you to anyone who has anything to say on this topic~!-I'll just generalize my answer and say that I like those with good art and interesting/funny story and a well-fleshed out development 8D
