Shiratsuyu no Kai

A game by Otomate which came out this month. Anyone played it? What are your impressions so far?

I heard that it's actually pretty bad ww. I was gonna buy it because BLESS DUMMY HEAD MIC it had nice art and voice cast, but the genre had me worried (and interested). It's interesting to see an otome game out there with horror elements, but knowing Otomate... It's a hit-or-miss when they decide to experiment with new things.

Haha, bad as in? The plot? The system? The MC?

Bad as in the writing and the system. Although from the complaints I've heard it's more about the writing and the characters and less about the system.

Yeah... The story is not written the best, and the "search the room" moments are a pain for me. The art's good, though, and I really like the music... but who plays otome games for the music? x.x

Since I think her reviews are spot-on and entertaining, I'm sad she didn't like the game...
Anyways, what caught my eye was the great art, but I was hoping for a solid story behind it...

Although sometimes I don't agree with her reviews, if Hinano says it's bad then it must be pretty bad. I had high hopes for this game because of the "horror elements" (and admittedly, the art and seiyuu lol) but wow I'm glad I decided not to buy this. So much wasted potential due to shoddy writing /sigh

Actually I playing this game right now, and I really not recommend it for everyone...
Otomate version of horror? it's more likely they want to create an traditional creepy like Fatal Frame but epic fail since they make it more like Shirahana no Ori...
and basically they throw something from their popular series to your face without even mix it properly (blood sucking diabolik lovers, demon like hakuouki) the story is looks like it unfinished...
The OP song is really nice, I like it...
The artwork is... actually it can be good, but those stick arms is doing me no good..
the sytem is pretty standart and the search option is not fully developed I think...
My overall thought is: otomate trying to milk some money by throw some half assed horror story to our face (but I still buying their works though...)

This is very true- Hinano's standards aren't very high in the "conventional" sense- she's not too picky, but that could be because she also wants to review what her fans/readers want to see reviewed. I'm not saying she has low standards or anything like that, but she hasn't expressed such negativity in quite a while. A friend of mine pre-ordered this and was spewing after she played it, calling it a "total waste of money".

It seems that the average otome gamer thinks that delays could increase the likelihood of a game being better, but I think it has an effect just as bad as churning it out too quickly... The devs get pressured to meet the new deadline because constant delays can hugely affect sales. Especially in Japan, where punctuality is highly valued. SnK also cornered itself in terms of expectations. Consumers tend to expect more when they must wait.

chiruchan, honesty is the best policy. I don't think I'll be finishing it any time soon.

LoL, I play this because the bet I made with my japanese auntie. She said I don't need to pay for Norn9 if I could finish this in a month so yeah I pushed myself to finish this game before December...

I played maybe a couple of hours of this and kinda decided there were other games on my ridiculously long backlog I'd rather get to.

It's really boring isn't it? I have a long list of backlog too, decide to finish some of them in this winter holiday (locking myself in my room like hermit)
