MangaGamer and Otoge
Hello everyone!
Due to popular demand (i.e. too much confusion going on in the "general" licenses thread), MangaGamer have made a separate thread for Otoge and BL visual novel suggestions!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I think it would be in your best interest to hop into that thread and drop them a few words about what visual novels you would like to see localized in English.

Re: MangaGamer and Otoge
Thanks for bringing attention to it by posting about it here! I made an account just to post on there. I'm glad MangaGamer has decided to try venturing into otoge now instead churning out mediocre nukige all the time.
Re: MangaGamer and Otoge
If they decide to license otomes it'd be great! I just hope they license something good... their choice of eroges isn't exactly good, although they have exceptions like ef ><
Re: MangaGamer and Otoge
I think this is a great idea. While I empathise that the costs of translating and redistributing nukige are lower than your average visual novel (due to their shortness), and that the primary Western market is perceived to be male... I'm with you guys on this. If this works, hopefully DLSite can follow suit.
In their defence, though, some of the nukige sold are quite... "hilarious", if you have my dark sense of humour.
I'll be surprised if they actually do listen and Starry Sky DOESN'T make the cut. It's arguably the most popular non-English otome game franchise in the Western fandom. If we're including English-translated, then I think it's on par with Hakuouki.

Re: MangaGamer and Otoge
I think that JAST USA tried to license Starry Sky and failed because the voice actors used in the game made it very pricey >< I think that if they went with a smaller company's game it'd be better. Maybe if they tried to license Ozmafia...

I don't think JAST cares much for the Starry Sky series, anymore. They announced a bunch of games in a post I remember reading somewhere, and not a single otoge was mentioned. As far as I'm concerned, they're not going to be doing Starry Sky.
Ozmafia would probably be ripe for the picking, I agree! While it isn't very popular, it is made by a 2-person team who would most likely be willing to have their games translated into English. Also, the voice actors aren't super-popular so it should be easier. (Though, the game is longer so it might take a while to translate.)

At this point I think it's safe to say that JAST has pretty much thrown away idea of licensing Starry Sky, but it's understandable considering that it has well-known seiyuu so the cost for the voices must be astronomically highSkeens wrote:Ozmafia would probably be ripe for the picking, I agree! Actually, last I checked, OZMAFIA!! is one of the highest selling visual novels on Amazon JP. The reviews are generally good (I bought a copy for myself but have not gotten around to playing it yet) and the voices won't cost that much as Starry Sky so I do agree it's a perfect choice of localization.
