I normally play mine on my laptop but since my laptop sucks I'm using a hacked PSP to play the other games. I know a bit of Japanese and how to pick up on tones in voices to figure out whats going on so playing them not in English haven't been to bad for me =)

I haven't played any for the DS so I can't give an opinion for that but I'm sure I have some games for that somewhere on my hard drive, knowing me.
