I'm feeling the need to find a new Jdrama kick, haha. So why not start a thread and discuss some favorites and help each other find new shows (I hope there is not already a thread like this, my deepest apologies if that is the case ;3; )

One of my favorite Dramas is actually a Taiwanese drama based on a Japanese manga, The Devil Does Exist (and the drama, Devil Beside You) it's a little silly...At first you may roll your eyes, but then you're hooked on the fiery dramatic relationship!

Oh, I loved that manga! Haven't watched the drama adaptation though. My favorite dramas are mostly Korean ones like Rooftop Prince, The Moon Embracing the Sun, Brilliant Legacy and so many more. I also enjoy Taiwanese ones (Hi my Sweetheart, Autumn's Concerto). I actually started with J-dramas but don't watch them as much nowadays. I loved Hana Kimi, Hana Yori Dango, Hotaru no Hikari, and Liar Game though. But nothing recent has caught my attention.

Hana Kimi was really good. I especially loved Ryomaden, it's a historical story about 19th century Japan detailing the history of Ryoma Sakamoto. It's really entertaining, mainly because of it's main cast and it has some really good drama. Also, another odd candidate would be Sexy Voice and Robo, I didn't finish it but I saw one episode and was bawling by the end of it, so it might be good. xD

A lot of the replies have already named Hana Yori Dango and Hana Kimi so for the sake of diversity I won't list them. Jdramas have the tendency to lure me in unexpectedly. I would start watching one just because an actor I love is in it then BOOM I'm addicted. Here are a few...

GTO (2012)
Tumbling
Ouran high school host club
One pound gospel
Samurai High school
Atashinchi no Danshi
Lucky Seven

I'm watching Last Cinderella at the moment....just because Miura Haruma looks so hot.

You
must watch it! It's so fantastic! It's still both silly and
serious...If you like I will try to scan some pages from the
artbook--once I get all my stuff here (I recently had a move) :3

You know, I've never actually watched a historical drama. Would you say this would be a good one to start with?

A lot of the ones I love have been mentioned already (Atashinchi no Danshi, Mei-can no Shitsuji, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge and Devil Beside You)

I love any drama that has Rainie Yang in it (Hi My Sweetheart is my favourite!)

For Kdrama, Coffee Prince is what I have been watching lately.
For Jdrama I love LIFE (based off of the manga), Koizora, and 1 litre of tears.

I want to watch some more sad Drama, but they make me feel so sad I have to take many breaks.

I lean toward Kdramas more for some reason. I also appreciate movies more than series but if you're looking for a series, I liked Heartstrings and Lovers in Paris (although it's very old)

If anyone's looking for movies, however, my collection currently consists of:

I have... quirky, cliche tastes in this area.

It depends on the drama you're watching, honestly.
I believe the ones we have mentioned are all very well acted.

Keep in mind however, there are some dramas....where things get...silly? Perhaps because they are based on a manga, haha.

I'll be straight up honest, the kissing in j-dramas suck (Taiwanese dramas have the best kiss scenes~! Devil Beside You and Why Why Love, *3* ). If I remember correctly, it's often referred to as "fish kissing" where the lips just touch.

That may sound like a silly thing to mention but...I'm a sucker for romance! So it's often a big disappointment for me when I don't get an epic, loving, kiss!

Other than that, yes m'dear. Wonderful acting, beautiful moments, that may well move you to tears. You will be stuck laughing in your chair, giggling in excitement, and hooked.

Not only with Jdramas, but those from other countries as well. :3

As many people have said, Hana kimi or Hana Yori Dango.
A few other REALLY, REALLY popular ones: Nodame Cantabille, Hotaru no Hikari, and Nobuta wo Produce. (check these out, highly recommended!)

K-drama:
I watched [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. I'd say it's amazing, definitely one of the gems in K-drama. The best out of the K-dramas I've watched.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is pretty good, too. Didn't finish this one yet. I usually have my guard up and ready for drama, but surprisingly, there's none that I've come across yet. Maybe you could try it if you want a good time. :)

And yeah for J-drama, Hana Kimi (of course, everyone's already mentioned it!).
I'd also recommend...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Baddie-of-the-day mystery series with lovable characters.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Tears. :( This is a romance one. The soundtrack is memorable and the story is dramatic, but I have to say I love this one a ton. If you're curious as to whether or not the ending is happy or sad: Happy ending for the main characters.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - One of the first J-dramas that I watched 'til the end! It's enjoyable.

Is anyone else here watching [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]? :o I think Kotoko is adorable. I didn't care much for Naoki at first, but I'm growing to like him.

Some recent J-dramas I've watched are:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], a romance drama. Three roommates are in a love-triangle, yet they try to look out for each other. (This made me cry a little because I could relate to the characters)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], a drama that revolves around a mysterious woman named Saki. Seemingly kind and caring, she leads men to their ends by probing at their innermost weaknesses through manipulation. (Interesting, albeit a bit slow at the beginning.)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], the live-action for the anime/manga with the same name. Watanuki can see ghosts and wishes to get rid of this ability. The drama focuses on Watanuki and his bond with Doumeki and Himawari. Each episode is less than 30 minutes & has only 8 episodes. It's a good time-passer. (Honestly I wished it was a little longer lol.)

Thanks for Akai Ito, I'll have to check it out! I'm a sucker for good romance ones--with a lot of drama, having great music is also a bonus!

I'm glad you'll be checking it out! :) I tend to stay away from dramas that require tissues, but there was something about Akai Ito.

About ItaKiss - I think the DramaWiki does a better job of explaining it. Here goes, though. B) It's a Jdrama with shoujo overload (one I completely adore, despite that). Kotoko is an extremely clumsy girl, but she means well. Naoki on the other hand is a passionless genius. She's had a crush on him for a while now. When she finally decides to confess, she ends up getting humiliated. To top it off, because of her unfortunate luck, her brand new house collapses.. but something else happens in place... And that is the beginning of the story, pretty much!
