This place looks pretty interesting!

Hi. I'm Lycisca. I've been playing otome games for years now, yet I have remained fairly silent within the community. It'll probably stay that way, but just in case I feel like breaking out of my shell I decided to make an account and introduce myself. I plan on lurking here for a while, so there's always a chance, right?

I first found interest in this genre through American RPG games that involve romancing some of the characters, like Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect. I was drawn into the story more when I was able to develop such strong attachments to the characters, which lead me to FanFcition.net. Though I'd enjoyed fanfiction since I was young, I suddenly found myself using it for different reasons; ei: making stories more interesting by adding romantic interpretations to my favorite animes/games/books/etc. This supply pool ran out fast and never quite scratched that itch, so I did some snooping. It didn't take me long to find my first true otome game: The Second Reproduction.  It is still my favorite otome game as I've never found anything quite like it (at least not in English).

I want to play Dandelion - Wishes Brought to You, Black Wolf Saga -Bloody Nightmare- and Heart no Kuni no Alice. I plan to buy the first soon, but I can't stand the horrible ATLAS translator method for the last two so I'm hoping they will someday be available in English. More companies should be like Cheritz. Don't they know I want to trow my money at them?

 

If anyone has any suggestions for games, I would be grateful for the information. I hit a bit of a dry spell while waiting to buy Dandelion, and it sucks! (The lack of games that is. Dandelion looks like it will be amazing!)

Welcome! The Second Reproduction was my first otome game as well and I'm glad it was.

Do you have a PSP and/or PSVita? If you do you can check out Hakuouki ~Demon of the Fleeting Blossom~ and the upcoming Sweet Fuse: At Your Side. They're both otome games that have been localized by Aksys Games. Alternatively, if you have a 3DS, you can buy Hakuouki: Memories of the Shinsengumi, which is basically just a port of the original also done by Aksys.

There's also a translation project in progress ofr Anniversary no Kuni no Alice (I'm on the translation team!). It's currently 27% translated right now.

I don't have a PSP or PSVite, but I do have a 3DS. I've heard of Hakuouki, and I've really been wanting to try it, but I didn't know there was a 3DS version. I definitely have to check that out. Maybe I should invest in a PSP... 

I would love to play Anniversary no Kuni no Alice! I've read so many good reviews about the Alice series in general. Though, I would ideally wish for an English patch, official preferred. I feel like some of the immersion is taken away when I read along with a translation guide. Damn it Japan! Let us deprived English-speakers throw money at you!
