Another English Release!? Norn9: Var Commons

Oh, man. Are they going crazy? I mean sure I love all these new games but how are they doing this!?

I know right! I'm super excited about all the releases  I'm just glad I just started a part time job so I can actually play them haha

Woohoo this fall is going to be awesome! I heard an official website for the game will be up in a few days, so hopefully we will have more info soon.

So excited, I can't wait!!! I've always wanted to play the norn9 games but ...I couldn't read Japanese or get any of the programming for otome gaming to work so ...FINALLY MY CHANCE!

I'm looking forward to it but, they should put some space in the releases so, it's easier for fans with limited budgets to buy all the cool otome games coming out.

Don't get me wrong, I'm so extremely super duper UBER EXCITED that this is getting an English translation!! >o< At least at first I was...

Imagine me scrolling otome news, when SUDDENLY! Wild Norn9 picture appears. Innocent me starts reading: "Oh, cool, what's this..... wha...HOLY SH*T, GOD, WOw WHAT!! WhAt THW dkfmkfm....". My spazzing goes on for a while. You get the picture. 


And now imagine me, all excited and happy, because I have been drooling all over that game for quite a while, scrolling down... and reading this: "Norn9: var commons"


VAR COMMONS... Now, I know what that means, but I keep faith... My eyes are playing tricks on me, yeah, that's right, there's no way, I waited so long... slowly scrolling down... slowly... ok, reading:

...I'm out... Why??... this is the worst, it's like you're giving a child the best toy on Christmas and then snatch it away the same day saying : "Haha, oops, sorry, it was not meant for you, hahaha" 


Ok, I'm being mean, I know Vita is all the rage right now, and I gotta accept that it's the new thing... but gosh, I really don't feel like spending money on a console that doesn't really have that many titles that I want and it's probably going to spawn another offspring in a year or two (because money grabbing companies just need your money omnomnomnom). To be honest, Norn9 is the only one that I really want XD

Oh, well, I guess I'll have to debate until autumn if buying a Vita is worth it, maybe some more games will catch my eye by then 



Maybe I should give some info on the game?
For those of you who are unaware, "Norn9" is a game that originally came out for the PSP 2 years ago. Since then it has garnered massive popularity, probably also thanks to the gorgeous soundtrack. This is one of the main reasons I wanted the game so badly. Here is the OP:




The game was ported last year to the Vita and it became "Norn9: Var commons". You can see the opening to it above, and hear its exquisite and soothing melody (which btw, it's the same as the original, the only thing they did was add "var commons" to the title screen).

The game itself has a very interesting premise, you start the prologue as a 12 year old boy, Sorata, and subsequently, after the common story, you can choose to view the events from the perspective of 3 different females from the main cast each with a different set of personalities and pursuable guys. No, Sorata is not one of them, but he does have his own special route that you play from his perspective. 

Well, aside from my own personal frustration that this is for the Vita, this is actually still great news, and I still keep some excitement from these news. It means that the Japanese companies finally noticed that there is a market and there is a fanbase for otome games in the West. It seems we are finally taken seriously. I mean, looking at the rate by which otome games have been released lately in English, more every year, I think it's pretty safe to say we are going to see them as a common occurence in the video game industry in the next years. And that is AWESOME!

Thanks for posting info about the game! It saved me the trouble of looking it up myself (followed by getting carried away and spoiling the game before I play it)

I apologize in advance for the next part. I'm just a really big gamer who wanted to mention what I believe could happen in the future market...
About the PS Vita:
It's already on it's second version, PCH-2000 so, they probably won't come out with a new one until a couple of years and then an extra year or 2 till they bring it to the US.

From what I can tell a lot of otome games are released on PSP(or players favor the psp) so, of course they'd release it on the favored system in the US. However the US has now completely cut PSP. So, if they plan on releasing otome games what system should they go on; the second best option! PS Vita. Cause it's part of the same family of PSP. Anywho, for the most part the way things are headed I think that if they can otome fans and general JRPG fans should get the Vita. They already plan on releasing Amnesia, Code: Realize and now even Norn9 I think it's safe to say if the otome releases continue in the US they will probably be for the Vita.

As far as the games on it... I'm not too picky but, even I only have 5 games for it (mainly because of the price of the system and games) where as my average number for console systems is 20 and handhelds at 30.

Game systems will remain a problem for all gamers. I'm just glad Norn9 is going to get a physical release!

wow awesome ! Someone has to set a list or a Calendar-releases soon, so we'd know what to buy, when and what we're missing. (In a month or two we'd have forgotten about all those game being released, I think...)

Woow! Another one? OMG I'm SO GRATEFUL for these translating! 

I don't live in a country where the Otome Games are so valued, so when I can, I always buy one when it seems worthy. Saving my money for Amnesia in August, and I'm REALLY THANKFUL for them to be realizing these games in Vita! 
(Never thought I would actually play any Otome game in it  )

And the game seems good too! Fortunately I will be able to have more games from now on -w-
