Let's talk about BJD Dolls:)
I would just like to ask if anyone here owns a bjd doll, if yes, please share it so we can talk about it^-^because I'd like to meet new friends who have the same hobby as mine. I don't have that much friends who likes to own a BJD doll so I'm hoping there are some here. I bought a bjd doll for the first time and I still don't know a lot of things about BJD. I'm quite rusty to make clothes lol But I'm planning to buy some furniture from sylvanian families (I hope it would work well with my bjd.)
So here meet my BJD, Torenia, I call her Baby Torie<3

Re: Let's talk about BJD Dolls:)
So cute *^* I want one based off of one of my OC's but alas money, which I don't have xD One day I'll get myself one.

Re: Let's talk about BJD Dolls:)
One of the people I know had made a ball joint doll based on one of his OCs. Ahem. OC children. When he went to a convention, he tried to sell it for 90 USD. That... I do not know if that is reasonable, but that sounded... overpriced, even considering the materials.
Re: Let's talk about BJD Dolls:)
The ones I've looked up both online and at conventions where all over $200. I've seen some even $500 and higher. It really depends I think on how detailed you want them and the clothing cause some clothing for them can be really expensive.

Yes, they are quite expensive. A very expensive hobby. Like you, I also wanted to own one but that started during the time I watch the movie, The doll Master when I was young
I was able to buy it in an local anime convention here so I bought it in a trusted store because I don't like online shopping and that would cost you shipping as well. It even took me a while to choose which one because she has a lot of sisters She's in the Ball jointed Doll Ai series. But I was lucky it is in a box with all her stuff and clothes on in a cheap price. Around 3k on my currency.

I never heard of someone created a BJD based on OC's but yea that could be overpriced.

Yeah. Well I can probably buy one and later get it altered. My OC isn't over the top, just a ginger with long hair and emerald eyes so nothing to special about him but I can see that getting custom ones would probably cost more. Eventually will get an awesome one.

Re: Let's talk about BJD Dolls:)
I really want to buy one once i have the $!
I just loovee dolls.
I collect cute/Victorian porcelain dolls and want to expand to ball jointed dolls as well.
I've been pricing stuff out online recently
i also found some ball jointed dolls called "J dolls" the dolls and outfits are based off streets in asia. that i think J dolls range from 35.00-100.00 but i the ones i saw were females.
not sure yet if im making my own custom doll or buying a ball jointed doll/s and making clothes
eventually i may do both but ahh i simply love them:)

Oh that's great, You're saving for a doll as well speaking of J-dolls, hmm the lady which I bought my BJD told me this about J-doll:
"And I wouldn’t really classify j-dolls or Pullip as BJD since their pose-ability is not really from ball-joints. They have moveable/poseable joints, but technically, they are still not BJD. "
But the doll itself looks really good tho and at first I considered it buying as well. Its joints are quite similar to Pullip dolls, the ones who have large heads. I did not considered buying it because of the joints, but I think the good thing is that the doll itself is very photogenic when it comes to picture and it has a barbie-sized structure.
On the first and second picture, try to compare the joints of Pullip and J-doll. Then on the last picture, you can see the BJD's have really the "ball" joints on its body.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Porcelain dolls are nice as well. I think I collected some during my childhood years.
Here:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
They are quite fragile tho x.x you have to be careful in moving the joints, same with BJD.
I hope you can buy your desired doll soon and share it here with us

Re: Let's talk about BJD Dolls:)
hmm, i haven't seen a Jdoll in person
maybe i'll have to buy one some day.
from photos i saw of the Jdoll it looked ball jointed but i guess i must have been mistaken
your porcelain dolls are nice
i currently have 6 porcelain dolls but most of mine are really fancy o.o
I'm still saving up for a BJD
but i have been saving every bit of cash i can
So i think im getting close
to building my own custom one
I decided I want to make a male doll
I might make him on the male obitsu body
the pictures i've seen look like every joint moves but they're taken from sorta far away
(still looking at options lol)
I even know how to do faceups now
and i think i have all the faceup materials
Man i have everything all planned out right now
im so excited go get him built
if he turns out I believe i will share him on here
im pretty artsy so i think it'll go well
i also know how to remove face ups
if i make a mistake so yeah
maybe i'll have to buy one some day.

Thanks, my porcelain dolls are old thoxD Nice you got 6 porcelain dolls and yes, Obitsu is really good but quite expensive. Oh you will make a male doll? Can't wait to see it here then
great you got everything planned. I'm not a creative person much so I have no idea how to make face ups (tho I knew there's always youtube to learn those, I have't attempted yet) and I suck at sewing clothes (tho I did sew before on my barbie clothes but some were finished w/ my mom's help )
maybe i'll have to buy one some day.

Ok~
sorry this has been so long
i got busy >.>
i made a fatal mistake with cutting my
obitsus head so i kinna need him a new head.
it'll be longer before hes posted sadly :/
atm hes just a slim male body in white
the headless BJD *DUN DUN DUN*
i still love him though~
hope you can see the link
my porcelain doll photo is in with all my drawings
please excuse them lol
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
some of my dolls hair needs a little TLC
since they are are second hand
(some are in mint condition though)
but i can't find my doll comb -___-
The doll with the pink dress and parasol is actually a lamp
the only ones with names are the little doll with black hair (ashley *factory chosen name) brand:Wyndham Lane
red haired doll (sweetheart brand)-Linda*factory chosen name
little blonde doll in blue dress-Ellamina
(a strange name i think i made up?)
the brunette in a blue/silver dress and hat
( Emma* factory chosen name)
brand:show stoppers inc.
note: i did her "eyeliner" on her face
but don't worry it's not real eyeliner xD
@otaku17 - oh its fine^^ Wow your porcelain dolls are cute gorgeous , I like the one w/ the lamp and the blue one w/ the parasol as well ic, i hope you could get your new obitsu head soon so you can finish ur bjd completely I do knew after watching the anime, Rozen Maiden that making your own doll could be quite delicate, needs precision and carefullness that's why I prefer buying the "made ones" instead coz I'm not much creative in that aspect and afraid it won't come out not as what I was thinking it should be (that's what I feel to some of my drawings after finishing them; I use to imagine a particular scene or picture to be able to draw it). But I admire that you are customizing your own doll
wow that's great, the more the merrier. Nice, you were able to sew an outfit inspired from rozen maiden. I dont want to display my dolls tho coz they might get dusty .So, my baby Torie is sleeping in her box. the others are in the cabinet. @.@
Yup I really love Rozen Maiden. who's your favorite doll there? For me, it would be Hina Ichigo or Suigintou:)
Re: Let's talk about BJD Dolls:)
I actually have a cloth hung on my shelf over most of them its rolled up when i can see them and covers them at night. i also pay attention to them every day and make sure that they never get dusty.
I now counted and I have 25 dolls O.O its just rapidly growing lol xD
I need to take a photo of my collection now lol
My favorite rozen maiden
dolls are Hina Ichigo and Shinku ~
I personally think the original series is better than the remake but I still am watching the re make
Re: Let's talk about BJD Dolls:)
@otaku17, wow you got a great collection of dolls there. 25 all in all? that's so many yup its important not to make them all dusty and yes, I also think the original series of rozen maiden is much more better than the remake. I haven't watched the remake yet but i just caught a glimpse of some episodes because my bro used to watched it. Oh we both like Hina ichigo then she's so cute and adorable. Sorry late reply, I've been working sooo much then I got sick, got anemia
