So what do we have here.. flashy high school assassins. On top of being pretty boys with personality disorders, we got complicated space terms that are hard to swallow. But hey, there's a bit romance xD
Re: Valvrave the Liberator
I dont know if I'd feel happy or just freak out with the first episode. Everything was too fast, and the character development was rather clumsy---
I mean ..Haruto figured out how to initialize thegundam but it took him a damn minute to press a YES NO Button? Hah...logic desu.

I'm amused with the vampire concept, hopefully he'd sparkle in the next episode right?[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
On a side note the Japanese comment boards plays a role in Valvrave and Majestic Prince. Some culture references huh~

Re: Valvrave the Liberator
I'm in enjoying it so far. There are somethings that seem predictable, but whatever. The ending of the first episode is what got my attention, which made me wait for the second episode and you know...it all came together.
So yeah, I'm looking forward to the next episode(s).

VALVRAVE THE HURRDURRDURR, TRAINWRECK OF THE SEASON.
It was a struggle to watch through it sober, and I'm still putting together the rules for a drinking game that would not kill participants.
It sure is a Sunrise-y Sunrise anime.

Re: Valvrave the Liberator
For me this is one of the best animes this season.
The opening is epic because it is Nana Mizuki and T.M.Revolution singing. The first episode reminded me somewhat of the first Gundam SEED episode because of the enemy infiltrating to get a secret weapon.
Overall, I'm looking forward to future episodes.

Re: Valvrave the Liberator
and I have the ending theme stuck in my head XD
Episode 4.
Episode 4.
- Spoiler:
- Well, things are getting more interesting. Looks like the Valvrave rejects others. Also whats up with that girl that Shoko was talking too?
Re: Valvrave the Liberator
I'm going to predict everything that happens in this show and I'll be right.
Are you ready? Here we go.

A) The first answer is Space Vampire Drugs. The second answer is also Space Vampire Drugs.

SEED? Gundam SEED? What?
Oh hey yeah I remember that happening in--

In other news, Valvrave hilariously borrows set and character designs from Gundam AGE (AGE DIDN'T HAPPEN, YOU GUYS!!!!) knows exactly how stupid it is, will continue to get stupider, and basically manages to pander while making fun of itself.

YES THIS IS ACTUAL DIALOG AND NOT THE TRANSLATORS MAKING STUFF UP

Re: Valvrave the Liberator
You're not the only one able to predict the plot. I've noticed on Valvrave (as well as several others this season) that the plot has either been getting kinda predictable or I've just watched enough anime that I can pretty much tell what's gonna happen. And what that guy said, oh my god XDKawaiiMess wrote:I'm going to predict everything that happens in this show and I'll be right.

- Spoiler:
- And wasn't the student body president talking to that girl over the phone? Is she his sister or something?
But dang dude. This anime is actually one of my favorites this season. It's an interesting show and it's not complete seriousness.
Re: Valvrave the Liberator
I think they moved a little too fast in episode 5.
- Spoiler:
- The kiss scene I mean.
Re: Valvrave the Liberator
I watched the entire series on Crunchyroll over the weekend. I had it on standby to simply begin for a long time, but when I watched TM Revolution and Nana Mizuki's music video with the anime's first opening song, I flipped out in weirded out awe and my priority to watch it raised exponentially.
I thought it was typical for a mecha series – the strange amount of supernatural elements combined with the usual flavor of character archetypes. I knew that there were two options for the ending:
But I still really enjoyed it.

- Spoiler:
- Either Haruto dies or Haruto lives. Theeeeen he dies in the last episode, and pretty conclusively at that. I appreciated that his living status cannot be contended, unlike other series with open endings referring to death.
But I still really enjoyed it.
Re: Valvrave the Liberator
I finished this show recently. Reminded me of a mix of Code Geass and Guilty Crown, but overall it was interesting enough I wanted to keep watching. There was a lot going on, but I really liked it. Plus, it could be awful, but I would still watch it for L-elf. Oh man, I loved him. Wish there was more just of him.
Re: Valvrave the Liberator
L-elf~
I also kept thinking about Code Geass with the whole...

- Spoiler:
- body jacking and secret order of secret people.
Re: Valvrave the Liberator
As much as I wanted to like Valvrave, it felt a bit rushed at the end and left me with more questions than answers. My biggest question being...
- Spoiler:
- Who the hell is that little gray-haired kid that looks like L-Elf in the epilogue?! The show switches between the new "world" that they created or whatever and the events that led up to that but they never once explained who that kid was or where he came from.

Re: Valvrave the Liberator
I picked up Valvrave not realising it was a Sunrise development until I'd already opened that first episode--the moment I realised, I knew I was in for a horrendous amount of pain. I wasn't wrong.
There's some things that really bug me with this show however; namely that new writer they had for the majority of Season 2 completely destroyed Shouko's characterization that was built through Season 1.
However I was still brought to tears countless times. The story utterly destroyed me but it was a very delicious and satisfying pain!
The Valvraves themselves were aesthetically pleasing and incredibly drawn. To this day, Episode 2 gives me shivers in the lead up to and execution of the 'Harakiri Blade'. It was brilliant; the OSTs were lovely, too. Really interesting. I ended up obtaining them all right away!
Funnily enough my most memorable "quote" (I say this because it's really two-character speech but--.) from the entire show was from that same Episode.
-"What comes after 666?!"
-"Possibility."
Valvrave was such a good show. I wasn't fond of how it ended. Like, the scene with L-elf was great but--. I suppose because Shouko's character was so... degraded by the new writer that when the Original came back for the final/last few episodes there was just no rectifying it. Thus Shouko grated my nerves by the end. I honestly wish she'd have died--that's pretty bad, isn't it?
Haaah. I apologise to those who like her; she started such a great and wonderful character and then she just... fell apart. I loved her a lot in Season 1 but... sighs quietly.
L-elf and Akira-chan were my favourite characters from this show.
Unless you allow me to include Valvrave I Hito (with or without it's pilot I just love the Valvrave itself). I ended up buying a model for that... it's still only partially built though. One day. One day I will finish building it, haha.

Re: Valvrave the Liberator
I agree! I really liked Shouko the first half, and then...I don't know what happened. I was so mad at her towards the end with how she treated Haruto!!! I liked Saki so much better.
Re: Valvrave the Liberator
I had no idea about the whole writer issue. I just blissfully watched and ignorantly noticed no difference. What were the character derpfalls? Having been a long time since I watched it, I can't pinpoint anything in my memory banks.
Re: Valvrave the Liberator
It was generally her main characterization. The attitude she had when she stood pridefully in front of the school and proclaimed their independence was completely different from how she began to act later in the series as Prime Minister. She often quoted her father and did not show hesitation--later, it seems that's all she ever does.Aiwethryne wrote:What were the character derpfalls? The same goes with her trust in Haruto. I know he lied about the Valvraves and the "Curse", but her actions were nothing like her earlier traits. To completely abandon the friend that's been there all her life. I understand her position came into play but surely--with that position of power she had--she could have at least listened to Haruto and I'm certain that's something she would have done, honestly. She was just a mess of personalities by the end and it... just depreciated my enjoyment. Any time she had screen time I wanted to 'Harakiri Blade' myself.
But... on another note--the relationship between L-elf and Liselotte: What did people think about it?
Re: Valvrave the Liberator
Ohmigosh! They were so cute! I wish they had more time together. I felt so bad for L-elf at the end.
