えっとー1年間日本で留学して、喋れるんですけど漢字を書くのが難しいです。と、大阪で住みましたから、大阪弁で喋るんです、自然に(笑)。間違いがあったら、教えてください!

Probably this thread is a good way so I won't forget my Japanese. I'd like to continue studying it, but school has most of my time.. Bert sweating

Where to begin with grammar ?
I've already went through several particles/nouns/adjectives lessons, but there aren't that much resources to practice (Like Exercises AND corrections)

I think I got the "theory" of how to use each particle, but when I have to use them, (reading is okay) it gets troublesome.

SO, do you guys have any links ? Free resources of course, I'm still at a beginner lvl, and I'm still not sure of my working method~

This site is in Hungarian tho, but if you go to the "tankönyvek" part, you can find a lot of Japanese language books. Genki I is a typical beginner book, also good for self-study, my university for example uses that one. But you also can find JLPT books and grammer books as well. Hope it can be useful :D

Aaaaah~
Such a detailed site ! I'll check it for sure and refer to it very often, I think !

Actually, I ended up working with this one:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
It's the best site I found out there. The guy is actually giving us his own lessons, which helped him master Japanese.

Also, I have a question in the matter of imasu/arimasu use:
If you want to say that there is a book and a boy in the classroom which one will you use ?

I understand that if it's inanimate you use arimasu, if it's animated (can move on its own) you use imasu. But if in a same sentence you use an object AND a human, which one prevails ?

If someone can help me on that, I'll give him cookies~

And an other question:

How do you choose between wa et ga in a simple sentence such as this building is big ?

That's a little bit of a tricky one, haha. I don't feel I can sum it all up properly; I used this article to help me out when I was learning (since it was something my teacher has still refused to explain to us, after three years).

In the sentence you cited, it depends mostly on the context you're aiming for. I would likely pick が (ga) for a sentence like that, since you are only describing the building. If you're comparing it to surrounding buildings (i.e. other buildings are shorter), then I'd use は(wa).

Truthfully, while it is important, it won't be the end of the world if you use the wrong one. Some of my Japanese friends even get a little mixed up on it.

Thanks for the link, it helped me clearing things a bit (I just need practice now, I guess)

I know, most people I've asked told me to just use one and it will be okay (ga). But... I still want to know xD

Yeah, I understand, haha. My Japanese teacher is real pig-headed and won't take us asking questions about anything she doesn't teach in class, so... She said the same thing to us. Kind of irritating that I can't even go to my own teacher for help on anything, but it is what it is, I guess.

I'm just glad I was able to help.   smile
