Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
I found her accidentally,
I'm collecting dramaCDs and usually write down complete information for my data
then I found her.. her nonH works is only on dramaCDs,
I just remembered Noah&Noel *love NojiKen* and one of the Toubousha series...
Yes those Jooubachi makes me rolling non stop...
Have you listened to Inma?
That cd is some sort of killing machine...
LoL, next year I'm going to broke my wallet too
I'm waiting for Jooubachi and Chronostacia
I'm biased over Chronostacia because Shikata Akiko is doing the OST...

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
Heh, heh, heh... I'm not the only one collecting "data" from the VNs I read. Though, I mostly "specialise" in seiyuu stuff~ :DI think I should start updating my data to include more staff members.
Inma? No, I haven't. Is that its full title? If there's a website somewhere, I'd like to take a look.
The first quartre of 2014 is going to be great! Man, being an otome fan has never been so good~

I would like my heroine to have a face <( O A O< ) So that the CGs are very pretty and I can imagine that I look just as beautiful as her <3

^^I agree. I loveee pretty CGs, and its kinda creepy to see a CG that contains a faceless MC (not that I've seen one, just imagining)BloodyFallen wrote:I would like my heroine to have a face <( O A O< ) So that the CGs are very pretty and I can imagine that I look just as beautiful as her <3
I don't exactly dislike faceless MCs, but I prefer the ones with a face because it makes it easier for me to imagine myself as her (strange how the faceless MCs create the opposite effect intended on me). Sometimes the faceless MC does things that I wouldn't do, which makes it harder for me to imagine myself as her.
(I do hope that made sense)

As an artist, I prefer the heroine having a face in case I want to draw fanart.
I think the CGs are very creepy if the MC has no face, too... ):

I am true neutral. I go for both ends. Some cases, I lke faceless. Other times, I don't. It depends on the game and plot. Faceless allows imagination. But non-faceless allows better grasp of personality/background/etc.

Never liked and never will. I think it just looks strange and sometimes creepy. One of the things that I like in otome games is cute heroines, and a face is crucial for that haha

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
personally i think most games like that have the option to turn facial features on and off (some like to picture their own face in there too) I don't mind it

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
I dislike them, I have no imagination to make a face to the heroine, and really half the time makes me want to cut their bangs XD
Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
Mmmm... Personally I feel it really depends on the game.
When there are games where your character is one that doesn't have much of a 'profile' for herself (like in the mobile games where your just a girl from so-forth and that stuff) I feel like its ok, I don't mind. Given an actual fleshed-out protagonist but without a face? Now that's just being lazy.
In a nutshell: got more background on yourself and a story to boot? Those facial expressions help but with 'stock' characters, eh, its ok.

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
I personally prefer heroines with a face because I see them as a separate character with their own personality and background instead of as an extension of myself. I also prefer them voiced (helps with my Japanese lol) but I don't mind if they are not.
Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
No matter how much the companies try to push the "protagonist = you" thing, it never works on me. It's just a mess all up, seeing as it's pretty much one of the biggest reasons why a protagonist's character is so thin.
The cynical part of me also thinks that they're too lazy to come up with a decent protagonist.

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
Faces I do adore. I don't know if it's just me, but I think years back, no faces were a lot more frequent (luckily I've been seeing less?).
As much as I love playing otoges, I've never thought of myself as the protagonist. I've never been able to relate myself to the extent that any character I play would become this fictionalised 'me' chasing down certain bishounen even if you were to make me insert my own name as the heroine.
Second reason perhaps, is that I'm peculiar about art a bit and it can be distracting, sometimes not just to the aesthetics of the image but to the plot, to see this nice CG but there's an empty face in the heroine.
My personal input anyway. I don't fret over whether the heroine has a face or not overall tbh. As long as there's a strong plot and nice art and great characters I'm all go.
But, I suppose if I were to make one I'd definitely have a face (whether distinctive or not) for the heroine with a fleshed out personality on the get-go.

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
I also can never imagine myself as the MC because she is usually never like me. The hair color and outfit is usually made to make her look distinctive, but without a face she looks like a creepy, nondescript doll. @___@ Clashing interests there. It is quite the oddity when they lack mouths, too...
Sometimes the facelessness kills the feels I have while playing, but there are artists who do an excellent job of making the composition not look awkward without showing the face. Regardless, I prefer seeing expressions on those faces that capture the mood!
But, really, it seems like they do this because of the influence of bishoujo VNs with faceless male protagonists. What, do they expect that people only stare at the ones with the faces so that they can, um, play around with their bodies?

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
I don't really have any preferences, I like them both. The only faceless heroine I didn't like was the one in Star Project after I saw a picture of her where she got a face. Her eyes were really creepy and pink and everything was büagh. (Yes, thanks for the ü, german keyboard, thank you.)
It's just that if they make a faceless one she should be faceless for the rest and if they give her a face she should have that all the time too.
(And I don't relate to the heroine actually, though there were some that looked a bit like me. And I never go directly with the choices I'd want since I kept getting the guys I didn't want to start with. So I always use guides for the routes, it's just way better for me, and imagine the heroine in parallel universes. )

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
I tend to freak out at faceless heroines, it doesn't help with "imagining you as the heroine thingy". It's the personality that matters to me, I don't put myself in her shoes anyway, I try to think of the MC as a friend, and whether I like her or not is just like whether I like that friend or not.
The MC is just a character like everyone else, she deserves a face at least

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
definitely dislike. plus, in games where the mc has no face, she tends to be a bit of a doormat, y'know?
i like games that actually let me see the face of the person i'm playing as the whole time. lets you see her emotions. kinda weird and a little creepy when she's reduced to nothing but a body and a hairstyle. the only otome game i love that never lets you see the girl's face is tokimeki memorial girl's side 3. they block her face, at least.
it's weird when you can see it straight on and the mc has no eyes...

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
Hmmm to me it depends. If it's a nice cute game I don't mind them being faceless but if it has a heavy plot I want them to have a face. I understand why they do the faceless thing but for some otome it isn't needed =p

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
Faceless heroines scare me a lot. I really enjoy Voltage games, and I feel like they should add a face on her. I would like to see her emotions and reactions in CG's. It would make it a more real experience for me.

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
FACE ALL THE WAY.
UGH I hate the faceless heroine concept. Voltage does that and I see their intention. But to be honest, for people who do place themselves in the heroine's shoes, I don't think the eyeless thing helps make things better..
It makes the CGs look painfully weird and creepy, despite everything else about them being really pretty. I think it would distance people even more from placing themselves as the heroine too.
Plus, not all people have brown hair (the common hair colour voltage uses for all their heroines), but I'm sure almost everyone has eyes...

Re: Faceless heroine - like or dislike?
I definitely prefer the heroine with a face! I just LOVE all the quinrose games (especially the Alice in wonderland series). Seeing the expression on their faces during a CG scene really influences the player to get the exact feeling the author wants to convey in a situation! (Well for me it does XD)
