USxUK is my LEAST favorite pairing in Hetalia =_=

FrUK is more historically accurate. And UKxJapan is adorable.

The American Revolution, that's what happened!

The English king was taxing the people too much, and wasn't giving them any say in their government, so the American people rebelled against the empire, and eventually broke free and formed their own country.

Hetalia depicts this as England still having a bit of a chip on his shoulder about the whole issue; although I'm not sure this is the case in real life. I doubt most English people these days care that America is a separate country.
