What anime moved you the deepest?
I've been to quite a few forums, and lots of people ask what our favorite anime is. I wanted to take a little detour off the beaten path and ask what anime touched you on a deep emotional/spiritual/mental level? It doesn't have to be all those categories or any. I'm just throwing out words to help you think of something. It's also fine if it happens to be your favorite too.
I tend to like things that show the bonds between man and nature. Those anime always speak to me, and make me feel all sorts of emotions. They sometimes even give me something to reflect on. Studio Ghibli is good at that.
......I'm terrible at choosing one, so I will be the first bad example and say Mononoke and Mushishi.
Those two touch me in a way that I can't just leave without thinking about something important.

Uhm, maybe Wolf's Rain? I don't remember it that well but I remember it making me sad. I mean, I think I was only 13 or 14 at the time so.... Hrm, think Ima go re-watch it. Prolly'll understand it better now. XD Sorry for stalking but you seem friendly! D:

Mushishi really hit me hard. I read the manga through and then watched the anime, and I loved both. Sadly I haven't finished Wolf's Rain... I hear it's a real tear-jerker though. And I really want to watch Wolf Children Ame and Yuki, because that one's supposed to be emotional as well.
Hmm, as for movies, Castle in the Sky is special to me for various reasons, although I'm not sure that they count...

Yeah, that anime was very sad. Be strong for the re-watch.
You're seem friendly too, so don't worry.

I thought the first part of Wolf Children with the father and mother was a little boring. Probably because it was just to set the stage for the kids, but once it was all about the children it was very interesting.
Movies are fine too .
Re: What anime moved you the deepest?

Honey and Clover, hit me right in the feels 'cause I can easily relate to it.
Re: What anime moved you the deepest?
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time for me. Like the heroine, I often make pretty lame choices myself, so I could really relate with the remorse.

Re: What anime moved you the deepest?
The anime that moved me the most was most likely Spirited Away. It was the first Ghibli film I watched and well it was just amazing and touching for me to watch.
I was told to watch Wolf Rain and to expect to cry so I think i'll probably watch it now since my insomnia is kicking in. ヽ(・_・;)ノ

Re: What anime moved you the deepest?
Why, that'd be Cyber City Oedo of cou--NAH JUST KIDDING.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 2: Battle Tendencies.
I knew what was coming, as I've read the comic before, but I didn't expect to actually tear up at certain parts.
Second place goes to REDLINE, as I've never cheered out loud in a theater before until that movie came along. It's a seriously underrated animation, so y'all should see it.
Same goes with Satoshi Kon's incredibly underrated films (MEMORIES, Millennium Actress, Perfect Blue, Paprika), and AKIRA, which got me interested in seriously drawing comics.

Re: What anime moved you the deepest?
Spirited Away is my favourite ! Basically , anything from Hayao Miyazaki really. There is a deeper meaning or message behind the movie which is makes his movies amazing.

Hotarubi no Mori e
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Its a simple story of a relationship between a girl and her supernatural friend. Very well executed and touching story.

Hayao Miyazaki is amazing, anything from him is too.
Aside from that, Angel Beats also managed to make me shed tears.

Graveyard of Fireflies proved me that I could cry while watching 2D ;____;
Re: What anime moved you the deepest?
Clannad definitely. It was a story about life that really touched me in a strong sense. All of the characters were human, none of them being perfect at anything.
Of course, the second half of After Story is where all the tears are at...
