Otome games you'd like to see translated...

I've just wondering, will be R-18 otome game get translate? I've found it except BL games I would like Kuro to Kin no Akanai Kagi and Jouubachi Ou get unofficial English translation >_<;

I guess not many feel comfortable translating R18 games? Or are they just not interested enough...
Since you see eroges getting translations a lot but not R18 otome games though.

I've wanted Jooubachi for awhile now, just because of the art. Then I listened to the drama cds and wow! These guys deserve some type of award. Especially Utsuro's CV, Shiraishi Minoru. The guy is genius, lol . And let's not even talk about Takanemaru! Takahashi Hiroki can melt ears, I swear.

But I'm also still waiting for PersonA english patch to be released. Ahhh...guess we just need to be patient, huh?

Well, now that Ozmafia's being translated by MangaGamer, I can die happy 

I'd still like the Arcana Famiglia series to be translated though.

Yeah it'd be great to have R18 patch also! If I'm not mistaken PersonA has an English patch in progress? I'm wondering how it's going...
Maybe we should consider doing some R18 otome games in the future lol
And I'm just dying to have at least a patch for Otomate games

"PersonA ~Phantom of the Opera~" does seem to have a translation, although there's SO little information about it (I was actually ready to say it was dead but I checked again and it seems to still be alive? The last update is from June this year...). Fuwanovel gives its progress at 36% (that's only translation, not re-insertion of scripts and everything else).

I've noticed that too, although there doesn't seem to be so much of a problem for the 18+ bishoujo or BL games, translation teams seem to stay very clear away from 18+ otomes (except for some H-free demo translations... I often feel it's like they're saying "Umm, yeah, we love this game too, but... can someone else do the H-scenes? ^^;").

I think there is a reasonable explanation for this. No offense to anyone who is into this... but most of the 18+ games are like raperaperaperaperaperaperape, seasoned with stuffing private parts with more or less edible objects that clearly do not belong there. 

I know, I know, I said something outrageous, I do admit there are 18+ games which seem to have a pretty good plot and integrate the H-scenes pretty well in the story.

HOWEVER
There are also these... I don't know how to call them... Let's put it this way: the target audience for these games are females, right? How is rape supposed to be a nice scene to watch? How in the name of God would seeing the heroine feel herself while the guy is gawking her supposed to make me feel anything else but awkward and maybe disgusted? How is humiliation and stuffing things that do not belong there supposed to make me understand that the guy loves the heroine? I SIMPLY CANNOT UNDERSTAND!
And these things happen in A LOT of games. It's not just one or two. And let's say I would sort of understand seeing this in a bad end (sort of...), but WHY on the good route?! ON THE GOOD ROUTE! I want to see a beautiful romance unfold between a man and a woman, not between a slave and a harasser!

I do agree that there are games that make the love scenes actually be love scenes and feel like a natural part of their relationship. I would sincerely love to see those games actually get recognition and get translated. 

I do feel though that the translation teams are kind of scared of actually taking on the translation of an 18+ otome, exactly for all the "exotic" content I mentioned above. It also doesn't help that the majority of the 18+ games contain at least one route with a rape scene in it (to this day, it beats me why companies insist on adding that, since people frequently ask on the Internet for 18+ game recommendations WITHOUT rape).

That and... it's probably not really comfortable to translate an H-scene in general ^^; Even some translation teams for bishoujo games actually released patches for the novels without that content simply because no translator felt comfortable being assigned that task

@Sayuri: I completely agree! I find it a bit sad how bishoujo and BL games generally have better sex scenes (in terms of placement/rape vs consensual, not quality of writing LOL) than otome games. I think the reason for all the rape scenes is because of the "submissive women" and rape fantasy thing they have going on there, but I'm not sure.

I'm not really sure I agree...there are a lot of male targeted eroge that have many of the same types of scenes and some interesting uses for maid costumes and produce...DX However, if nothing else, Japan is very fair in this type of thing. Whether intended for men or women, R18 games usually share the sames types of sexual tropes and "fantasies".

I've played a few yaoi games in my day (during my fujoshi period, lol) and the one's that were R18 had quite a bit of rape in it as well. The last one I played was Absolute Obedience and it was awful! I honestly didn't think it was that hardcore, but whoa. Almost every story in the game was concluded by a rape scene. I want to say I played through about 3 of the stories each with Kia and Loiuse before I gave up. Poor, poor Kia...

Mind you, I'm not anywhere near new to yaoi. Rape is pretty much a part of the genre. If anyone were to check my "complete" list on MangaUpdates, they'd see that I've read over 300 yaoi titles and I can guarantee that around 2/3 of what I came across had rape in it.

The big difference is the culture. Since these games are made in Japan, we have to consider how they see these activities. If the women there didn't like them, or were somehow offended by them, these types of games wouldn't be produced since it would be a waste of money. That said, there are women in other (read Western) cultures who don't mind playing these types of games.

Personally, I say translate a bit of it all! That way everyone can play a game that suits there tastes. I love that there are R18 games for women and I'd love to play an English one but still haven't really had the opportunity. I'm currently playing through Onedari Sharehouse and it great so far. But since I'm still learning kanji, if it isn't spoken, I have a difficult time reading it so it's takes me awhile to get into the game.

A rape scene wouldn't stop me from playing an otome game, as long as it's condensed within one guy's route. That said, I'm not about to play a game that has nothing but rape in it. Not so much because of the content but because repetition is boring. But hey, this is just my opinion.

But specifically, I hope someone translate Amnesia and Brother's Conflict, really wanted to try those. Because I find their anime version just so...ugh.

Amnesia for sure!!! I'm actually surprised that they haven't done so already. I've heard rumors that they are looking for a company to take it on... but Aksys has done Hakuouki... so? Not too sure about that....

Death Connection! When I was in high school a girl was playing on it on her psp and I watched (Neither of us spoke any japanese, but poking the guys was fun XD)

I also want KLAP in English(and for PC).

But in general I want all the otome games to be patched or to be in europe or usa markets! But I know I have to wait other 20 years when the japanese market will be more open to other countries... 

Thats why I decided to go to college to study oriental languages next year!

Well... I think that, Heart no Kuni no Alice (Clover, Diamond, Joker, etc too OwO) series for vita system. I know that the Heart series is already available for iOS and Android, but in my opinion is worthier buying it for the original platform 


Hakuouki, Diabolik Lovers, Uta no Prince-Sama, Brothers Conflict, Kamigami no Asobi, Hiiro no Kakera, ... There are more of course, and I agree that translating a game is difficult, but... Amnesia is coming in a few days THANKS GOD (There goes all my money ;w;) But, if they translated more of these games, I'm sure there would be a LOT of buyers, since that not everybody understands Japanese so well 


My "native" language isn't even english, but I learnt so I could post and read in forums like this, and read my novels at home and sometimes translate them for personal use:sparkle:

Yeah, it's a shame. With all the music and voice talent it would probably cost a ton of money to localize.
