- Who's your pre-release bias?
- Which heroine are you most interested in?
- What drew you into the game?

Re: NORN9
Is this game getting an English release? Probably not, but it's always good to ask...
This looks like something I'd enjoy.

Re: NORN9
Based on appearance and what I think their character is by judging their drawn expressions (you know how when you've played to much, you can actually tell these things now?), my favorites would have to be Nijou and Takishima. Azuma and Kaga look interesting too.

Re: NORN9
I fell in love with the bgm! they have previews on it at the website. And since the creator of the bgm is nobuo uematsu Im looking forward to this game. and another best thing is that all 3 heroines will be voiced! :O Back to the topic here's my answers:
Who's your pre-release bias? Muroboshi Ron
Which heroine are you most interested in? Shiranui Nanami
What drew you into the game? The Bgm and the art. Once I saw someone at tumblr translate an article on NORN 9 and the story really pique my interests..

I thought it was a typo on the first post... there's three heroines? But it's otome? You get to choose which heroine you'll play as? Um... can all heroines obtain all guys or are certain sets of guys locked to a specific heroine? Or are the three just there for "player's preference" purposes?

1. My pre-release biases are actually a lot, but the good thing is, I have the bishou ready for each heroine, so when I play it later, I will have my gameplay ready!
2. Koharu, obviously. It's just that I am not really fond of kuudere (Nanami) and tsundere (Mikoto) heroines; Koharu in the other hands is a dandere, so hurray.
3. Mainly because the BGM looks epic. There is Uematsu. There is Yanagi Nagi. There are 3 heroines with their own bishou. I have each bishou liked for each heroine. The CG looks good. The plot looks good. So I warmed up pretty fast. Now it is strengthened up with Idea Factory's announcement that NORN9 might be localized to the west.

One heroine with three eligible capturables. You get to choose which heroine you'll play as, and you could only pick one heroine for three capturables.
Koharu -> Kakeru, Senri, & Toya
Mikoto -> Natsuhiko, Sakuya, & Itsuki
Nanami -> Akito, Ron, & Heishi

Well, that's certainly an interesting concept.
I'm guessing there are differences with their common routes? Or is it just really the appearance that changes with regards to the heroine's story?

Possible that the heroines might view the story by their own perspectives. Well, I think there might be common routes for each of them. But the story is actually mainly focussed of the shota guy since he just warps into the world the heroines and the capturables are, isn't it?

He is the main reason why I got so confused about the story's plot. At first I thought it was a guy's dating sim what with the focus of the story being on him and there being more than one heroine.
I wonder how they'll - uh - alternate the focus from him and the player considering he, the protagonist, seems to have no major role in the love aspect... it would be interesting if it would be in his perspective but then...

I'm sure the shota guy is important in the plot, but somehow this reminds me to Hakuouki Reimeiroku, but somehow with different gameplay xD Kind of. In any case, I thought that the system would be the same (with heroines x capturables), but as the story goes, the shota will still take the important role in each chapters. I guess.

You know, having 3 heroines is kind of cool.
Who's your pre-release bias?Natsuhiko Azuma
Which heroine are you most interested in?Mikoto Kuga
What drew you into the game?If I have to be honest, the art.

From what I understand,
- Spoiler:
- the story starts out in Sorata's (the little boy who gets warped onto the Norn) POV up until around chapter 2, where the Norn is under attack(?). For some reason, it its suggested that it would be better if all the characters split into pairs. From there you pick your heroine and guy and the story switches to the POV of whoever you picked.

Just out of curiosity, how many people are buying this game? I feel like I'm the only who has preordered so far. Maybe I'm just "chatting to the wrong crew"?

Re: NORN9
I'm planning on buying this game using a proxy. I haven't pre-ordered yet since my proxy has been unresponsive for a while but I'm planning on getting it from Alice-Net (their tokutens interest me the most lol). It took me a while to put in my order because I needed to save the money for it and because I couldn't decide which store to buy from rofl.Laramie Castiel wrote:Just out of curiosity, how many people are buying this game? Re: NORN9
I'm lucky I'm only interested in the regular edition, so I just preordered ages ago from AmiAmi. Daeyamati-saaan! I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Well, I guess it doesn't matter in the end. I was just curious.

Re: NORN9
I was about to pre-order the standard edition but then Otomate decided to slap Yanagi Nagi's name onto the game (she's singing the OP and voicing a character!) so I decided to shell out the extra cash to get the limited edition lol (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧Laramie Castiel wrote:I'm lucky I'm only interested in the regular edition, so I just preordered ages ago from AmiAmi. The 3 heroines and Kaji Yuuki made me interested in this game but Yanagi Nagi sealed the deal for me rofl
Re: NORN9
^ I'm glad you clarified that you're a huge fan of Yanagi Nagi, 'cause I was pretty unsure! ;D
I started off, like most people, by being interested in the three heroine concept. I like the idea. I really hope they don't ruin an interesting concept with shitty writing. I won't reserve my criticism if all the three girls are basically personality clones of each other.

Re: NORN9
I agree; this game has a lot of potential (Idea Factory/Otomate are considering a localization for it!) and I would hate to see it shot down by terrible writing, especially for the three main/poster boys.Laramie Castiel wrote:I really hope they don't ruin an interesting concept with shitty writing. Also, based on their character design,
- Spoiler:
- Koharu will probably be the friendly, optimistic type.
- Mikoto I'm not too sure about, but it looks like she'll be a tsundere.
- Nanami will probably be the silent, reserved type (think Nagato Yuki from the Suzumiya Haruhi series).
- Koharu will probably be the friendly, optimistic type.

I am still wondering if those heroines are inspired by the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] since it is really similar. Although, I haven't found which that made them connected with Urd, Verdandi, and Skuld.

It must be, since NORN must mean the three girls (based on the female Norns in Norse mythology that, to quote Wikipedia, "rule the destiny of gods and men", possibly alluding to the way(s) that protagonists tend to change the courses of their love interests' lives), and the 9 (pronounced "nonet") symbolises the nine obtainable guys. An interesting note is that "nonet" also means:
1) A composition in which requires nine people to perform
2) A nine-lined poem
3) A group of nine data bits in computer technology
I wonder if the writers picked "nonet" to just sound cool or the fact that there are nine guys in total will have a much more significant meaning?

True, if that is so, it is a very good motivation. It is pretty rare for one to use Norse Mythology, the tend to use Greek instead xD (<< this is just a random thought).
That is a very good analysis Laramie! Brilliant. I didn't think about nonet. And finally you've cleared up about that. Since Norn9 story is about those boys in a ship. Though I wonder if the shota is connected with something more.
Hopefully it'll grow into something more meaningful. Kudos!

Yeah, otome game writers usually stick to Japanese references. Visual novels in general tend to not go beyond Japanese and Greek mythology. So Norse mythology is a huge welcome! The only game I can think of that used a few Norse mythological references and is Japanese is [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. It isn't a visual novel- it's a JRPG (a brilliant one, too)- but still.
Haha, thanks! Knowing how Japanese plots typically go, I'm thinking that little boy will almost certainly have an important role.
A large cast is very tough to pull off in terms of character development. How are they going to make nine boys totally different from one another; without relying on character designs? I'd hate to be a writer for NORN9. Unless there are eight other writers, haha.

Re: NORN9
True though, now I'm really motivated to play since my most favorite mythology is Norse. (And stupidly I have only realized that Norn9 is kind of related with Norse Mythology AFTER a long time spacing up xD). Yeah, I only got 3/4 things about Japanese mythology thanks to some games; Greek in the other hands, comes from books and some other reliable informations. Norse isn't as popular as Greek I supposed.
Tales of Symphonia! Emil! Oh man, I missed that series.
I am sure he will, since he is the first to be introduced in the story, no? And then after his chapter (prologue) we get the chance to pick one of the heroines. I'm sure the story will somehow unravel with him.
Yeah I understand the pain! Even making 3 boys with seperate paths without BEING the same is very hard. xD
EDIT: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The art is decent and good. I recommend everyone to see even though it is only 9 pages. OH. And it is somehow the additional info for Dae's previous explanation, but who knows that the manga might be a little different from the game.
Talking about the title of the manga: it is called Norn + Nonet. It is definitely hit the mark Laramie!
